It was truly amazing to get up close and personal with this pelican the other day on Rottnest island. The grandparents have departed back home to SA after their amazing holiday with us over the Christmas period.
These birds are one of the largest birds in the world and their massive bills can hold up to 3 gallons of water. I personally havnt gotten this close to a pelican before so this was quite an experience. They are truly big birds and are very interesting to watch them and see how they look around and watch your every move. Pelicans are usually quite social birds and normally travel in packs of close to a hundred other pelicans.
