Field Guides, One of my favorite paintings by Fred Tomaselli
Thank you for everyone who participated in our
Thankful Acts of Kindness contest!
Last week and I presented a challenge for stories about thankfulness that was an evolution of our actsofkindness challenge 4 months ago.
The idea is to notice the good we are already doing in our lives as well as to spread the good vibes that come from learning about some beneficial things happening in the world. It’s so easy to be bogged down with the myriad difficulties all around us and worldwide and these kinds of stories remind us that yes, life is challenging and yes there are people exploit others everywhere, but there are also exponentially more people engaged in amazing beautiful generous creative life-giving acts every single day everywhere and in every way!
I highly recommend taking a look at and upvoting the stories from our 5 contest winners, listed in the order of submission:
From , a story about his appreciation for a beloved elderly friend and a way he showed his heartfelt love and care for her.

From , a story about her passion to help child prostitutes in Indonesia. She tells of the horrific situation, her desire to help and her clarity about the importance of helping in ways she can despite the potential to be shamed for discussing and acknowledging this taboo subject.

From , a story about a way that she reminds others that they are loved, appreciated and that they matter and also about how seemingly small acts can have a lot of power.

From , a story about her experiences during an apprenticeship with special needs children in Semarang, how the act of extending herself to do this work helped her personally and about the win-win nature of developing relationships with these children.

Each of these participants won 5 SBD transferred directly to her/his wallet. Again, many thanks for taking the time to share your stories, I know that my heart is much fuller after reading about your acts of kindness. It's the kind of thing that makes a big difference in my outlook on the world.
I also want to extend a big thanks to my partner in this endeavor . She is out there healing people everyday and has given of herself generously for over a year here on steemit with her consistent posts offering information about cannabis, healing, recipes, her town and her backyard wildlife. All of her stories are well-written, ooze integrity and always have a healthy dose of wit and humor that almost always give me a good chuckle. She extends above and beyond to generously offer advice and help to anyone she can. If you haven't already, take a look at her blog.
