Hey fam! 👋
I decided to treat myself and try a hairstyle I’ve been saving on TikTok for months. Spoiler: it was 4 hours, a lot of patience, and one moment where I almost tapped out 😂
If you’ve ever sat in a salon chair and questioned all your life choices halfway through, this post is for you.
Step 1: Lossing of hair
we started with Lossing my braided hair so we can wash and prep for smooth hsir getting ready to be installed
Step 2: The Wash & Prep
We started with a deep wash and scalp massage. Honestly, this is my favorite part. Feels like a mini spa session before the real work begins.
Step 2: Braiding the Base
Next was braiding my natural hair flat for the wig install. My stylist was working fast, but my arms were already getting tired holding the phone 😩
Step 3: The "I Hate This Part" Moment; The Bonding
Lace installation. If you know, you KNOW. That glue, the pulling, the waiting for it to dry... I said out loud "I hate this part so much" and my stylist just laughed.
Step 4: Styling & Laying the Edges
This is where the magic happens. Hot comb, edge control, and a lot of hairspray. The goal was soft, face-framing waves with a sleek finish.
Step 5: The Final Reveal
4 hours later... this is the look I was going for! Inspired by this TikTok style but made it a bit softer for everyday wear.
I was honestly surprised how much I loved it once it was done. The struggle was real, but the result? Worth it.
Time Spent: 4 hours
Style: Glam updo with frontal wig install
Cost: N/A - but let me know if you want a cost breakdown post!
important things to know
- Never book a salon appointment when you’re in a rush. Rushing = bad results.
- Bring snacks and water. You’ll need them.
- Communicate with your stylist. Show them reference pics and tell them what you don’t like.
Let me ask:
Have you ever sat through a 4+ hour salon session? What’s the longest you’ve ever spent getting your hair done?
And be honest - would you try this style, or is it too much work? Drop it in the comments 👇
If you guys want, I can do a post on "How to make your wig install last 2+ weeks" next.
