What is hoarfrost?
On frosty winter nights, when the air temperature falls below the freezing point of water (0 ° C), droplets of water evaporating from the soil surface, grass and trees or snow cover turn into tiny, mostly needle-shaped ice crystals, and the ground is enveloped in silvery - a shining coverlet, which lies on the bushes, on the branches of trees, and on the electric wires. Sometimes the branches are so thickly covered with frost crystals that they break off under their weight.
