A few weeks ago now I went to do a model shoot with and
in an abandonded location. It was actually a backup location as the first fell through, but in hindsight I think it worked better as it was a smaller group (which I preferred) and only 2 models, Lauren and Amy. Its also a location Chris and myself use often so I was familiar.
Below are some of the shots that I took of Lauren. We were lucky that the sun was out and, well I was about to say it was a beautiful day but actually it was beautiful sunshine between showers! So when the sun came out I opted to try some high contrast shots with Lauren in the shafts of light coming through the holes in the roof!
When shooting these I had monochrome in mind as the shadows were naturally giving me two dark strips down either side of the shot and the light through the middle.
In contrast, if you'll pardon the expression are some of the shots in colour..
From the brightness of the shot where I exposed for Lauren I felt monochrome would be better suited and almost became street shots in my opinion
As a photographer I try to mix what I do in my shots, I've done still life, some macro work, lightpainting and I enjoy a good model shoot. If you'd like to check out any of my other work I'm on Facebook, or you can find me on Instagram under neilru75
