SteemIt Uses Anonsteem For Account Creation?
Foreword: This post is not meant to be derogatory in anyway. I just noticed this occurrence and am curious as to the why, thus figured open discussion would be a proper course of action.
So you may notice that when makes a post, it get's a huge payout very quickly. If you take a look at the recent post about the new SteemIt logo, you might see this when you click the votes dropdown:
As you can see, there are some well known voters in the top of the list. This is to be expected because there are not a huge percentage of users that have such a large controlling stake of Steem. What is interesting to me are the accounts of trendings-grace and misterdelegation. These two accounts combined possess more than 6 Million Steem Power.
It is trivial to see via https://steemd.com that each of these users were created via service. A way to create accounts via a proxy account that is not the
account.
Why would the creators of Steem(It) have a desire to use a 3p web-based software to create their own accounts? Is this not something they could easily accomplish using their existing systems? Unless there was some reason for a desire of anonymity (be it very trivially uncovered) for these accounts.
What do you think? Is there possibly shady practice involved around the anonymous nature of these account creations, or could it simply be that the use of anonsteem was just easier for someone at SteemIt to use instead of Vessel or another method that would allow them to be the recovery-account on the newly created user?
PS: Anonsteem by is a legit service and there is no real problem with the use of it. In fact, it is the fastest way for a user without an existing Steem account to obtain one.
