As I have got older I think society has had less impact on my decisions, probably to the point where it feels like it is none at all.
It is almost like I have turned into a wise old owl just like the art sculpture sitting on the table at our coffee shop visit this morning.

I would like to think that what I am totally practical when it comes to decisions especially the big ones but I suppose if you live in a large city your going to be influenced in some way with basically everything you do.
I used to find myself pretty easily getting sucked in and buying stuff that I wanted rather than just what I needed, but not as much anymore.
A good example would be Nike super running shoes. I like to run for fun, fitness. Lots of my friends are the same. So when Nike brought out these new carbon plated extra responsive running shoes and all the elite and professional running started winning and breaking records in them. I definitely wanted some.
Especially when lots of my friends were getting them and were saying they were great and made a big difference.
Temptation and pressure was real but I was able to resist for years manly because they were very expensive. Eventually I caved in and folded. I bought older models on run out sales when new styles got released.
They are good and I like them but did I really need them?
