The sun was trying hard to break through on a near perfect morning at Torquay. It is only my 3rd event visited in Victoria. Even though I live in Vic for 20 years but that was well before parkrun started. The event actually starts at Fisherman's Beach and then runs behind Whites Beach on a well-maintained trail. Which is all just a few hundred meters northeast of the main Torquay shops and Main Beach. There is plenty of parking, toilets and even has the Salty Dog Cafe a shell's throw from the finish line. We were actually here with the dogs we are minding the day before parkrun, checking out the course and letting them have a bit of a play on the dog friendly beach, I reckon the dogs could have easily handled the parkrun 5 kilometres, but we did not want any problems, so we walked them earlier and left them home with a few treats.
The nippers and surf lifesaving boat was already out practicing their skills before we started.
The crowd was starting to build.
The run brief for the 264 runners and walkers.
That is what a need an official parkrun top and matching running shoes.
Most of the course was like this gravel path winding its way between Whites beach and the Esplanade. Photo of me at the turn around loop to Hive account@consciouscat
I just could not get into this run. A good course, great weather, not too hot but two and a half minutes slower than last week. photo credit to parkrun volunteer photographer.
I might not have run very well, but I still got a mention with the most events done on the day lol
