Starting my new job today and of course there will be induction stuff to do before I really get into the meat of the job, as a full stack developer working with Ruby on Rails and the two React frameworks, the one for the web and Native for building mobile apps.
I’m working at a music school that helps children learn to play instruments, who find it hard otherwise. It’s not always about sheet music, theory and so on. I’m curious to learn more about how they teach.
I found music a really hard topic at school in the 80’s compared to others and was frustrated because I wanted to play everything but just gave up at the first hurdle. I’ve since learnt to play a bit of guitar and lots of keyboard since then by teaching myself mostly. I was formerly taught guitar by a very good player and teacher. I really only stopped when I met a girl and got distracted - she did become my wife though, so that’s all cool.
I took a break from music completely until Covid and I dug out my old keyboard, got back into making music on the computer and then started writing about it a little later.
Anyway, my new job will be a great journal topic, I shall encourage myself to write about it.
How did you find such topics at school?
