Borneo Arts Festival is a annual event in Malaysia’s Tourism Calendar that organized by Labuan Corporation of Tourism, Culture and Arts Department.
Where is Borneo and what is Arts Festival?
Borneo is located in Southeast Asia included the districts of Brunei, Kalimantan of Indonesia, Sabah Malaysia, Sarawak Malaysia and Labuan Malaysia.
Arts Festival are the exotic culture with its rich and colorful performing arts traditions and contemporary performances. Many performances of visual arts, ethnic music, recitals, traditional ethnic music including mukun (traditional percussions performances), fusion concerts with gambus, traditions ethnic costumes fashion shows and many more.
The Event
3 days 3 nights Borneo Arts Festival Event was held at Financial Park Labuan’s 3 storey space with 8 different stages/areas with all different functions.
The event from 28 till 30 September 2018.
The Program
Regarding the events, they split into 3 sections which are ground, first and second floor. Here I will share three different floors with different events and exhibits.
At ground floor, there are 2 different performance stages with different events. One is at the 2 stage and open area with displaying of Malaysia’s handcrafts, exhibit of local made souvenirs as well as selling local products at each every booths. Beside that, they also have wide variety of foods and drinks bazaar at the open space area. Here I share some pictures during the event happened.

Outdoor Bazaar
The event held for 3 days and 3 nights at the location and at the same time they rent spaces for foods and beverages outlets at the outdoor space area. There are many choices of foods and drinks. From charcoal bbq chicken wings to local foods, homemade syrups to can drinks. Sorry no alcoholic drinks. Just name any of your favorite local foods and definitely is available to find.
While at the other area of Bazaar, they even have things to buy like clothes, plush toys and many more.
At First Floor, there are a huge space of displaying and exhibit The Visual and Art. They have artists that portraits and caricature, face painting, temporary tattoo and many more.
At Second Floor is the main stage or auditorium which can fit more than 2000 people, This is the area where they held their huge group of competitions like gambus, traditional dance, and also the last day of closing ceremony.
Gambus Competition
Best Gambus Player from Brunei carry away a Gambus worth more than 3,000 Malaysia Ringgit and for the best team performance’s prize is 5,000 Malaysia Ringgit
Creative Traditional Dance Competition - there are 28 group of participants from all over Borneo joined the competition and there will be only one winner.
