Hello everyone and welcome to another post! Today I am going to share a little bit about a recent event I went to called "Taste of Planet", a week long food tasting event where different countries are presented through their culinary specialties, culture and traditions. This year I only visited when Korea was presenting and last year I went to the same event so HERE you can check out how it was.
This year the event is held from October 24th until October 30th. Each day another country is presented with the main accent on food tasting followed with something fun that represents that same country. Last year, while I was living in the city, it was so much easier for me to visit the event and I went to check out three countries - Korea, Japan and Mexico. Now that I am back at my parents house, I only went for one day as I had some errands to run in the city and I was lucky that on that day it was Korea's turn to present their food!
The ceremony started with a few words from the ambassador of Korea in Serbia, H.E. Jaewoong Lee where we got to hear a little bit about each dish before trying it. While the last touches and servings were put on the table, we got to enjoy a K-pop dance covers by Cactus Dance Crew from Novi Sad.
It was such a sunny and warm October day which was good for the performers, in case of rain/bad weather, performances would probably be cancelled. I was curious to see the dance performance as I was actually thinking about joining this dance crew just for fun as I am a big fan of K-pop but I cannot match the time and schedule of their practices. They were amazing and I kept wondering how long it takes to learn only one choreography since K-pop choreographies are so complicated and not easy at all! After this part of the program was over, we got the food! This year they served bulgogi (Korean beef), japchae (sweet potato starch noodles stir fried with vegetables), kimchi jeon (kimchi pancake), omija (berry) tea and yakgwa (honey cookie). On the photo bulgogi was missing but I got it later! I really like japchae and bulgogi and I am looking forward to going to a Korean restaurant in Belgrade and have a full meal! :) Unfortunately, I had to leave and catch a bus back home so I couldn't stay for the taekwondo performance which was amazing last year!
