In a world filled with distraction, noises, pressure, and responsibilities that seem unending, quiet time is where I find myself again, but then, not many people have discovered this, and most of us who have discovered it aren't consistent with it.
Quiet time can be where we heal, meditate, and grow better, and trust me, dreams can be birthed via quiet time. There are some reflections done in your alone moments that can reshape your destiny for good; it's simply powerful.
As early as my teenage age, I discovered quiet time. The credit goes to our children's ministry teacher back then, who was nurturing our spiritual growth, teaching us the importance of setting ourselves apart to be alone with God. In her words, she said, "God speaks to everyone of us ...we can't say God is our father and we don't hear from him ...it's because we are too busy, noisy, and distracted." Come to think of it, our biological father, do we communicate with him? We do because he is our father, and that's how it is for us and God too.
I am not trying to be spiritual in this post because that's not all we get from quiet time and reflection. No, there are many reasons to pause and observe reflections, stay away from noises or even from listening to others, and intentionally listen to our thoughts.
One thing I practically learned in one of my quiet moments some time ago was that the answer I seek from outsiders is within me, waiting in the quiet. It was too real to be true, but that evening when I paused, left my home for a nature park made a lot of difference in my life.
I was alone over there, reflecting on many things that felt like sweeping my feet away. No noise, no kids' disturbance, no husband's attention; it was just me, my soul, and my mind, reflecting in such a quiet atmosphere. Ideas were flowing, and I was noting them all. I thought deeply unlike before and discovered that what bothered me within those periods wasn't something I couldn't control but something I was too distracted to think deeply about.
Another thing quite time does for us is discovery! As much as I don't practice this more often, I have discovered a few things during my quiet moments, great ideas and more...
To be sincere, the last time I observed my quiet time was last night, between 11pm and 1am. Recently, I have been going through a lot; I felt so overwhelmed by the happenings. It made me sad, and I lost my appetite. I have been praying, but last night, I decided to sit down and really reflect on all the happenings so far, so I waited until my kids and hubby went to bed, then I quietly moved to my dining room, sat over there, and began to observe deeper thoughts. I wouldn't tell you that this morning my problem is solved already, but I feel lighter, and I already began with a step to tackle my issues.
The idea came in last night during my quite moment and trust me, quite time is never a luxury , it's simply necessary. Some quiet reflection brings the needed clarity and strength to keep going.
Overall, quiet time is a lifestyle. I hope to stay consistent with the practice. The discovery each time I struggle to do it usually leave me in awe. So yeah, it's something I hope to continue with.
