Religion, as the Bible presents it, is not just a system of rules or rituals, but a personal and living relationship between us and our Creator, shaped by faithful obedience and humble devotion. It guides our hearts, directs our choices, and gently teaches us how to live in a way that is pleasing, loving, and righteous before God and toward others. True religion calls us to move beyond outward appearances into sincere actions that reflect our inner commitment to God, as Scripture reminds us:
“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world” (James 1:27).
In the same way, the Bible shows us that genuine religion grows from a trusting heart and is expressed through obedient faith, not empty words or mere traditions. It teaches us to love God with our whole being and to treat others with kind, patient, and merciful attitudes that reveal our faith in action. Through this true and meaningful worship, we are reminded that our relationship with God should shape every part of our lives, just as it is written:
“The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth” (Psalm 145:18).
