Now I'll tell you about the second book in the series. I confess, I liked it a little less than the first, but it was still an interesting thriller. We find ourselves once again with journalist Ben and the same mysterious English town where he grew up. This time, the journalist comes across a terrible fire at a recreation center next to the village church. In the fire, he manages to save someone who looks like a boy, but he can't see him well and runs away.
The fire brings new mystery to the town, and detective Dani returns to the investigation. She's having a difficult time at home, since her husband is in a wheelchair following a very serious accident in the town—a robbery gone wrong, where she was caught off guard. Her husband hasn't been the same since, and the culprits have never been caught. However, returning to the fire, it will unleash a fire in the town, and here too, several characters will be involved: an elderly woman from the town who seems lonely and strange, fascinated by the neighborhood children who remind her of her lost daughter and who tries to stay away from the church; the priest of the church, who seems particularly affected by the fire at the nearby recreation center he wanted to sell; a priest who seems very reluctant to cooperate, especially when a woman's body, walled up in the building at the time of its construction, is found in the remains of the fire.
This discovery obviously triggers many others, the victim turns out to be Inspector Dani's mother, whom her father had told her had died in another way, there will be many episodes retracing this story and the inspector's past and above all her father's and a particular case he was investigating....

Ahora les hablaré del segundo libro de la serie. Confieso que me gustó un poco menos que el primero, pero aun así fue un thriller interesante. Nos encontramos de nuevo con el periodista Ben en el mismo misterioso pueblo inglés donde creció. Esta vez, el periodista se topa con un terrible incendio en un centro recreativo junto a la iglesia del pueblo.
En el incendio, logra salvar a alguien que parece un niño, pero no lo ve bien y huye. El incendio trae un nuevo misterio al pueblo, y la detective Dani regresa a la investigación. Está pasando por un momento difícil en casa, ya que su esposo está en silla de ruedas tras un grave accidente en el pueblo: un robo que salió mal, en el que la pillaron desprevenida. Su marido no ha vuelto a ser el mismo desde entonces, y los culpables nunca han sido capturados. And naturally, Ben the journalist conducts his own journalistic investigation throughout all of this, becoming entangled in a web of secrets and lies surrounding the town, especially regarding this fire that broke out, obviously arson-induced, exposing not only the fire but also the dark secrets of the residents. Who started the fire? Who killed the woman in the building? And who is covering up the drug scandal? As always, a book full of mysteries, with many stories intertwined in an unpredictable and suspenseful plot. I was less impressed than the first because the plot was much more intricate at times, but I enjoyed the in-depth exploration of the new and old characters, who were very well developed. In these days I will also start the third book in the series, which I will obviously review for you later!

Un caso que parece resurgir, que involucra a jóvenes que también serán mencionados en varios capítulos del libro. Se trata de un caso de drogas y, sobre todo, de una mujer poderosa que aparentemente ocultaba un negocio relacionado con las drogas en su negocio y tenía clientes y traficantes en el pequeño pueblo.
Y, naturalmente, Ben, el periodista, lleva a cabo su propia investigación periodística a lo largo de todo esto, viéndose envuelto en una red de secretos y mentiras que rodean al pueblo, especialmente en relación con el incendio que se desató, obviamente provocado, exponiendo no solo el fuego sino también los oscuros secretos de los residentes. ¿Quién inició el incendio? ¿Quién mató a la mujer en el edificio? ¿Y quién está encubriendo el escándalo de las drogas? Como siempre, un libro lleno de misterios, con muchas historias entrelazadas en una trama impredecible y llena de suspense. Me impresionó menos que el primero porque la trama era mucho más intrincada en ocasiones, pero disfruté de la exploración profunda de los personajes nuevos y antiguos, que estaban muy bien desarrollados. En estos días también empezaré el tercer libro de la serie, ¡que obviamente reseñaré para vosotros más adelante!
