Good afternoon, hive friends, here I am, a day late in posting for the Wednesday walk. Unfortunately, yesterday I wasn't in great shape, so when I got home I didn't really feel like posting. Anyway, here I am today, taking you back to Montecatini. Yesterday I took a stroll around town to run various errands, stopping by Trattoria Gina (which everyone recommended to me because the food is excellent; I'll have to go there one day) and from there I headed towards some of the central streets of eastern Montecatini. This city never ceases to amaze me. Even though it's no longer a tourist destination, it still has a touristy feel in many ways, and there are still many tourists and foreigners around. Walking around I found some beautiful, pretty villas, almost all decorated with wisteria, which I confess I don't appreciate very much, not so much for its aesthetics. It's a beautiful plant, but it has a smell that I don't like. Then, in the villas, there were lots of beautiful flower gardens, also with beautiful roses and other plants. I walked along some really beautiful streets with well-kept, pretty houses.

Continuing my walk, I left behind the residential streets with their pretty villas and entered an area that was clearly a typical tourist destination. After a fifteen-minute walk, I found at least five hotels, some still active, others abandoned: Villa Rita, Albergo il Popolo, and others, all with national flags to confirm their tourist status. Some hotels were simpler, others more elegant. Some reminded me of the hotels in the seaside towns I've visited, and it was strange; I almost felt like a tourist myself! Each hotel had simple terraces, unfortunately empty. I don't know if there are any tourists at this time of year. Then I passed the hotel area and ended up in a more run-down but no less fascinating area. I found myself in an area with several abandoned buildings, some embellished with very beautiful colorful graffiti (you know I love street art), others sadly left to decay and abandoned. It's a shame, because some of the buildings were obviously really pretty and interesting, even historically. However, even in this part of the city there were some hotels and long tree-lined avenues that characterize the city of Montecatini, it was a nice walk yesterday too, I still have a lot to explore but I will have time soon, blog friends.
Continuando mi paseo, dejé atrás las calles residenciales con sus bonitas villas y entré en una zona que claramente era un típico destino turístico. Tras quince minutos caminando, encontré al menos cinco hoteles, algunos todavía en funcionamiento, otros abandonados: Villa Rita, Albergo il Popolo y otros, todos con banderas nacionales que confirmaban su condición de turísticos. Algunos hoteles eran más sencillos, otros más elegantes. Algunos me recordaron a los hoteles de los pueblos costeros que he visitado, y fue extraño; ¡casi me sentí como un turista más! Cada hotel tenía terrazas sencillas, por desgracia vacías. No sé si hay turistas en esta época del año. Luego pasé la zona hotelera y terminé en una zona más deteriorada pero no por ello menos fascinante. Me encontré en una zona con varios edificios abandonados, algunos adornados con grafitis muy bonitos y coloridos (ya sabéis que me encanta el arte callejero), otros tristemente dejados a la ruina y abandonados. Es una pena, porque algunos de los edificios eran obviamente muy bonitos e interesantes, incluso desde el punto de vista histórico. Sin embargo, incluso en esta parte de la ciudad había algunos hoteles y largas avenidas arboladas que caracterizan a la ciudad de Montecatini. Ayer también fue un paseo agradable. Todavía tengo mucho que explorar, pero pronto tendré tiempo, amigos del blog.
