Today I'm taking you to Pistoia again, this time to one of the lesser-known but, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful squares: Piazza Garibaldi, dedicated to the famous historical figure Giuseppe Garibaldi, an important figure of the Italian Risorgimento, a general, scholar, and renowned for bringing about the unification of Italy by uniting northern and southern Italy. This square prominently features a large statue of Garibaldi on horseback, which dominates the entire square. The bronze statue, at its base, features a laurel wreath sculpture made by the famous Lippi foundry in Pistoia. The statue dates back to the early 1900s, when the square was more famous. Today, it consists of a small, poorly maintained garden, but is also surrounded by beautiful historic buildings from the early 1900s.

Hoy os llevo otra vez a Pistoia, esta vez a una de las plazas menos conocidas pero, en mi opinión, una de las más bonitas: la Piazza Garibaldi, dedicada a la célebre figura histórica de Giuseppe Garibaldi, una figura importante del Risorgimento italiano, general, erudito y reconocido por lograr la unificación de Italia al unir el norte y el sur del país. Esta plaza destaca por una gran estatua de Garibaldi a caballo, que la domina por completo. La estatua de bronce, en su base, presenta una corona de laurel esculpida por la famosa fundición Lippi de Pistoia. La estatua data de principios del siglo XX, cuando la plaza era más famosa. Hoy en día, consta de un pequeño jardín descuidado, pero también está rodeada de hermosos edificios históricos de principios del siglo XX.
The square is beautiful, with lush trees and unique streetlights. In front of the square is one of Pistoia's largest avenues, home to the Mantellate Schools, one of the city's most famous private schools run by nuns, and the beautiful and imposing Church of San Domenico. The church and the adjacent convent were built by the Dominicans in the late Middle Ages. The church was much loved by Pope Clement IX, who commissioned four funerary monuments by Bernini inside. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to visit the interior, which is a real shame! From the outside, the church has a very simple and bare appearance, and in front is a small, charming garden. La plaza es preciosa, con árboles frondosos y farolas singulares. Frente a ella se encuentra una de las avenidas más grandes de Pistoia, donde se ubican las Escuelas Mantellate, uno de los colegios privados más famosos de la ciudad, dirigido por monjas, y la hermosa e imponente Iglesia de San Domenico. La iglesia y el convento adyacente fueron construidos por los dominicos a finales de la Edad Media. La iglesia era muy apreciada por el Papa Clemente IX, quien encargó cuatro monumentos funerarios a Bernini en su interior. ¡Lamentablemente, no pude visitar el interior, lo cual es una verdadera pena! Desde fuera, la iglesia tiene un aspecto muy sencillo y austero, y frente a ella hay un pequeño y encantador jardín.
