India's Space Agency, ISRO, yesterday broke a space record, held by Russia, by launching 104 satellites in one go. It was an anticipated event but everyone's fingers were crossed as it was not a question of only the launch, but of also proper deployment in space once up there.
The whole country broke out in cheers when it was confirmed that all 104 of those satellites has been deployed successfully after the launch on its PSLV-C37 rocket, an indigenous creation of the agency, and almost every paper in the country is waxing eloquent about this feat in today's edition.

It is also a testament to the fact that not only India has been making rapid strides in the field of space exploration, it has been doing it a fraction of the cost of most nations, and out of the 104 satellites sent up, only 2 of them belonged to India.
Although the number 104 sounds a lot, it has to be said that with the advances in modern technology the size of modern satellites are small in comparison to the older models, and most of the satellites sent up has been officially called "nano Satellites".
In a rather subdued statement, the chief of ISRO, Kiran Kumar summed it up by saying
All 104 satellites successfully placed in orbit. My hearty congratulations to the entire ISRO team for the wonderful job they have done.
It is now estimated that the low cost of launch by ISRO will attract more countries to use their services for launch, which shall make India's own satellites launches almost free considering the country has an active space program, and it will be interesting to see which way they go with this in the future.
