Hey everyone, what do you think about the fairly new 'Outsider' ruleset in which ONE Wild unit can be used in our Modern battles?
I think it's awesome and it's a great move from the team because this ruleset not only brings entertainment but is also brings a little extra demand for key Wild cards!
What cards are key you may ask? Well.... Cursed Windeku, Unicorn Mustang, Djinn OShannus, Iziar, Baakjira, Djinn Chwala, Deeplurker and Swamp Spitter, just to name some of them!
So, having Wild cards is important again but the way I've managed my accounts, I had a problem with this ruleset because all my GOOD Wild cards are on my Wild account, managed by XBot... and not in my Modern account, so in the last week I've started buying some of these key cards for this account and they're a lot cheaper than back in the day!
A couple of days ago I was grinding my ranked battles and the Outsider ruleset was coming up A LOT and I really liked it, I also read someone who didn't like that it came out that much but I guess that's someone without Wild cards or the knowledge about them, and it's something older players really have a benefit with - owning the older reward cards and more importantly, the knowledge about these cards and when to use them. It's been a long time though so it takes some heavy thinking, the couple of Wild Brawl battles I do every week are helping with this so I didn't completely forgot, it's just that my Modern account doesn't own a lot of the high powered older cards.
In one of those Outsider battles, I met , a players that's been around for a long time as well and I started the battle with a level disadvantage, Gold level vs. Silver level... Good choice of the Wild card too, Coastal Sentry, another one of those bangers! I used to pair her up with Possibilus the Wise to give her the Reach ability, good old times!
The Sentry killed my tank way too fast, bringing my MVP to the front where it's vulnerable to get the armor destroyed, but my Swamp Spitter can repair it! Good thing I killed the enemy tank as well, now quickly, kill the Sentry before she can use her Double Strike again!
We both had a nice support team in the back line, I had a healer and a armor repair, my opponent used two armor repairs but it was mitigated by Slade's double attack with Piercing, all my damage was intentionally directed to the front, well expect for the sniper but I just had to use it because it teams up well with the Shock Trooper, and soon the enemy frontline collapsed, basically when you're not using a tank with the Shield ability or a strong magic team, or both... you're screwed against a Elias / Slade team.
The man himself had the honor of delivering the final blow, another win for me!
You can watch the battle unfold here for yourself.
How is the new season going for you? I had a horrible start in the early days, my win rate last season was really high but so far it's really bad with only 45% 😅
