Splinterlands - Rebellion reward cards first playing day!

Hey everyone welcome back to my Splinterlands blog where today I will be making another post for this weeks Social Media Challenge about the new set of reward cards which should shake things up pretty good again, it's always fun to find new strategies and possibilities again so I'm excited!

With the start of the new Rebellion set, the ability to earn the Chaos Legion set came to an end and with this change, the old set can be unbound, at a fee of course.
To start, it's 10 times the combat power paid in DEC which will be burned, in about 4 weeks this will get more expensive until they can be no longer unbound and they're account bound for eternity.

For players like myself not playing at the top it's a nice way to buy the missing cards, but I'm waiting a while with that because I think prices will drop some more when sellers keep undercutting each other.

My wishlist to complete up to gold level so far:

• 11x Will-O-Wisp
• 1x Thane Newsong
• 2x Kulu Mastermind
• 1x Musa Saline
• 1x Ava the Undaunted
• 3x Iziar
• 2x Usut

At current DEC price, the Dollar value for unbinding a single BCX legendary card is around $3.20 so I guess the floor price will be no lower than $4 anyways, looking at Kulu Mastermind, he's currently being sold for $4.14 but Usut and Iziar are both over $5 per BCX.

Things I've learned so far...

So, with this many new cards we splinter fans are gonna be busy remembering all these new abilities and possibilities, not to mention memorizing every cards mana value, that will take some time to sink in!

So for the new 'electrified' ability, it's good to know that it deals 1 damage at the beginning of round 2 to all OWN units, and each following round too, also important, the damage ignores armor and damages to health points! So, for the Weary ability I've got only one card with it, the Halfling Refugee. With 6 HP and 2 melee attack for only 1 mana it's a great card even at level 1, with weary being very RNG dependent you've got to have a little luck with it, I didn't in my first battle and it got exhausted 5 of the 7 rounds, but even then, it's a great meat shield even if it doesn't attack at all.

Earning glint and how to spend it...

At the end of last season I was planning to spend all my glint on the old set, and I have never earned so much in any season before, 118K in total where in my last season I got to about 80k so it was a big increase.
But then real life kicked in and I had other things to do and before I knew it I got the 'maintenance' message on Discord, but I only realized I couldn't buy the old set once maintenance started so that was pretty stupid... 😅

The good thing about my mistake was, I had 118k glint to spend on the new set so I could start with the low level cards right away, so it wasn't so bad after all!

The glint rewards for bronze and silver have been boosted to give lower players a better experience, this was very welcome, on my alt, active in silver I was earning around 50 glint per win and 90 glint at the end of the season, but now it's already earning over 200 glint per win in silver 3!

The cost of chests and rarity draws have been updated too, and like everything in life - it got more expensive... 😅

What to do with my glint?? I was really torn for a while, but then went for rarity draws because in chests there's only a card in one third of them, and since minor chests can't have multiples, drawing energy or potions for 1000 glint feels a little expensive to me.

So, if I remember correctly my 118k glint got me the following:

• 100 common draws
• 50 rare draws
• 4 epic draws
• 1 legendary draw

the legendary draw was quite underwhelming, I didn't knew which legendary cards were available, so for 35.000 glint I got....

a 1 mana 1 attack opportunity monster... seriously? 🤣
Well, if I pair it up with Tarsa to get an extra attack it can be okay in certain situations I guess, it reminds me a little about the Battering Ram from Untamed, which has 2 mana and is a little slower

Still there are some really nice legendary cards to be earned so I guess I draw one of these every season to try my luck 😁

I most of the battles in Modern League I fought today I didn't see any new cards, I think many players had the same plan as me, but really spent their glint on the old set so now they have to earn some again to be able to get the new cards.

So this is it for this post, I need to do a few more battles until my energy is drained enough so I can resume playing tomorrow again.
