Este anime es uno de los más conocidos y con razón, aunque conozco a muchas personas que lo conocen pero nunca lo vieron porque tiene fama de tener una trama difícil de entender. La trama gira entorno al joven Shinji Iraki, el cual es obligado a trabajar en NERV, una organización que se encarga de luchar contra los "ángeles", los cuales amenazan a la humanidad con destruirla y ocasionando desastres en el mundo anteriormente, catalogados como el "Primer y Segundo Impacto". Para derrotar a los ángeles, la organización usa robots gigantes llamados EVA ya que es lo único que les puede hacer frente. El joven Shinji tiene que manejar el EVA 001, sin embargo nuestro protagonista poco a poco va sacando sus inseguridades, dolores y además, su personalidad de adolescente con problemas. Es un chico que es obligado a entrenar para pilotear un robot gigante y aunque lo hace muy bien, su relación con su padre es sumamente complicada.

También conocemos a los demás personajes que aportan muchísimo al desarrollo del protagonista y a su historia. Esta Rei Ayanami, la cual fue la anterior piloto del 001, Misato la cual es la líder de todo, y luego está Asuka, la seleccionada para pilotear el EVA 002. Hablar de como se desarrolla la historia y todo lo que va a apareciendo poco a poco sería dar spoilers, sin embargo a medida que se va avanzando vemos como todo se conecta y que Shinji, a pesar de ser una persona complicada, es un humano como todos y que sufre de la presión de derrotar a los ángeles. Aunque es una historia compleja, es sumamente disfrutable y entretenida, que se puede ver varias veces para poder comprenderla, a la par de las películas. Además, tiene el mejor opening del mundo.

This anime is one of the most famous and rightly so, although I know many people who know about it but never saw it because it has a reputation for having a plot that is difficult to understand. The plot revolves around the young Shinji Iraki, who is forced to work in NERV, an organization that is in charge of fighting against the "angels", which threaten humanity with destroying it and causing disasters in the world before, cataloged as the "First and Second Impact". To defeat the angels, the organization uses giant robots called EVA as it is the only thing that can stand up to them. Young Shinji has to handle Eva 001, however our protagonist gradually brings out his insecurities, pains and also his personality of a troubled teenager. He is a boy who is forced to train to pilot a giant robot and although he does very well, his relationship with his father is extremely complicated.

We also meet the other characters who contribute a lot to the development of the protagonist and his story. There is Rei Ayanami, who was the previous pilot of 001, Misato who is the leader of everything, and then there is Asuka, the one selected to pilot Eva 002. To talk about how the story develops and everything that is going to appear little by little would be giving spoilers, however as it progresses we see how everything connects and that Shinji, despite being a complicated person, is a human like everyone else and suffers from the pressure of defeating the angels. Although it is a complex story, it is extremely enjoyable and entertaining, which can be watched several times to be able to understand it, on par with the movies. It also has the best opening in the world.
