I'm not the DC-Fan (Marvel Rules!) but i like superhero movies and after the disastrous premovies like Superman vs Batman, Justice League or the mega hyped Wonderwoman movie I had my doubts about Aquaman. But I like Jason Momoa as a actor, and a few people told me, that the movie is better then the pre ones, so why not, I watched yesterday Aquaman in cinema.
The Story:
In the middle of the eighties a lighthouse keeper and a queen from Atlantis fall in love and father a child which should not actually exist. Because there is no connection between the people on land and in the water until little Arthur (Aquaman) sees the light and soon feels connected to the water and its inhabitants. Through the royal advisor Vulko Arthur gets to know his destiny, but has no desire to go to any royal seats. Until he learns how things are down there.
In Atlantis, Arthur's half-brother Orm has established himself as ruler and now wants to unite the sea people to go to war against those up there. Arthur wants to prevent this, but he is quickly put in his place. With the help of the beautiful Mera, he must now search for the mighty trident of the long departed king in order to be able to take up his birthright as ruler. On this dangerous path, a villain named Black Manta also stands in their way, who wants to take revenge on Aquaman with Atlantic technology.
My opinion:
As mentioned above, I had little expectations. I brought my popcorn, sat down and waited until the movie began. It started with his simple story and scored with his CGI, a Jason Momoa who enjoys his role and a hot Amber Heard at his side. Aquaman fights his way with many funny jokes and sayings through the movie, sometimes in the water, sometimes in the air, sometimes on land, without an end. The movie is well done because the actors are also fun to watch even though the story and the whole thing sometimes doesn't make any sense and everything seems like a chaos but that doesnt matter, because it is a fictional story, so why you need some sense if all works how it should work, right?
Aquaman seems very authentic and not artificial like Superman vs. Batman or Justice League or Wonderwoman. I still wonder how people could celebrate Wonnderwoman? Such a hyped movie that has very little to offer. But Aquaman makes me hope again for the upcoming DC movies like Joker or Suicide Squad 2 (i also liked the first one).
Aquaman is worth to watch it !
