Howdy. Pleased to meet you. New to Steemit but been around a while- long enough to remember days when “Yes, Sir and No, Ma’am” were the norm. To ask for something using “Please” and to say “Thank you” for either receiving it – or not. Long enough to remember that a person’s word and reputation meant something. Long enough to remember that complaining never got the job done faster so it was best to concentrate on the task at hand and get it done.
I’m here to help where I can. I’ve got enough grey in my hair now, enough hard earned wrinkles and callouses, I’m scarred from where I’ve fallen down again and again along the way but I’ve learned a lot from each time I’ve gotten back up….and I have always gotten back up!
Old School Knowledge is often hard won but long remembered.....
So..
I’ve been mulling this idea around for a while…
I have worked with quite a few young men and women who find themselves facing challenges in their lives but because of many reasons, struggle to succeed, to carve out the life they want and deserve. In many cases, they find themselves on the wrong path because they haven’t been given strong enough foundations upon which to build their lives. Life has changed over the years, most of it for the better. But somewhere along the way, knowledge and lessons learned within families, friends and neighborhoods no longer comprise the social fabric that weaves us all together.
I’m here to change that...at least to the extent that is within my ability.
My hope is help others. I’m no psychologist, priest, doctor, lawyer, etc etc. I don't have all the answers - I’m just an Old-School-Man. I get up every day, I try meet my obligations, I work hard and play hard. I’m accountable – to me, my family, my friends, my community and to the Man Upstairs. When I fail, and I often do, I pick myself up, dust myself off, square my shoulders, set my jaw and get back in the battle - wiser from my mistakes.
If you are looking to vent, to learn, to ask for some advice or a hear/tell a good story, well – please follow me. The best stories come from big mistakes and big successes. I’ve been blessed with both.
I hope you’ll come along.
Old-School-Man
PS: I love all kinds of music – but there are a few artists who really keep me grounded and my eyes clear. Merle was one of the greatest Country Artists ever – his songs mean a lot to me. I hope you’ll take the time to listen to his words in this song. He’s spot on right. And one last thing – Merle’s song asks the question. It is up to us how to answer it. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is exactly why I’m starting this post.
