The students at my school surprised us, the teachers, today with a Middle-Eastern lunch they prepared for us. The students fried falafel right there in our small school kitchen. They served falafel with vegetables, herbs, pickles, hummus, yogurt and different vegetable pastes. They taught us to roll falafel balls with our choice vegetables into thin pita bread. It tasted so good! We shared food and conversations in basic Swedish, as well as laughter and smiles.
And then there was a dessert – a Lebanese cake with very sweet syrup (kind of like transparent liquid honey) and tea. It was similar to pudding in consistency and taste. I tried to learn its name, but failed. If you recognise it from this picture and know what it's called, please let me know in the comments!
It felt amazing to receive this sign of gratitude and friendship from our students. One of the many reasons why I love my job.
