I had a pleasant surprise yesterday - one of my ex-students I had not seen for ages called me and said that she was going to come to our town and wanted to see me. She was one of the children at school who could make us, the teachers, feel that we worked to make the new generation better... It can sound too pathetic but it explains why I invited her for coffee.
She came with a cake - a beautiful and very tasty marzipan cake. It was prettily decorated with marzipan top and flowers and had meringue with hazel nuts inside. It looked so provocatively delicious that did not have time to take a picture of it when it was untouched and you can see only a part of it.
It was excellent with coffee I made with my new espresso coffee maker - a gift I recently got to my birthday from my son's family.
I also had some caramel cakes, so the evening did not reduce our weights 😁. Luckily, we both were not on a diet.
Many years passed since she left school. Anja is an adult person now and has good experience at working as a lawyer. She told me that she decided to continue her education despite that she had already got a Master degree in Estonia. To be a good lawyer needs lifelong education, and Anja understands that well. She entered a Moscow state University of Law and is going to get a Master degree there as well.
We wanted to have a picture with two of us but... That day I had a small operation on my face, and you can see such a "decoration" on me. I am trying to cover it with my hand but it does not work very well.
We had a nice time together to talk about Anja's life, our school, the teachers and her schoolmates in those times and now. Well, such meetings are what we, teachers, work for.
