Zebra crossing seems just like a design in some places, it never works in my city or people never pays attention to it because we all are always in a hurry and so people violate high way rules. Everyone is rushing to and coming back from where ever, from dawn to dusk, commotion abound from motorist to pedestrians.
Can you explain such inorderliness in human? When insects and some animals are much more coordinated and planned, if man are truely higher animansl, then the tendency to learn to be orderly from other animals is very low!

In my city, Lagos Nigeria West Africa; it is appalling. There is a place called "Oshodi" and another called "Obalende" among other very rowdy places where crowd frenzy could make you loose your nerves if you ever find yourself in such a place. You could see among these pedestrians some playing music with earbuds on a busy road, another playing Pokemon Go or some other games, and yetanother pressing his or her Phones using Instagram or Twitter while on these busy roads. Seeing the sets of groups together creates a Hapazrd and uncoordinated crowd movement with disgusting noise from man and car honks, they bump into each other giving pickpockets and petty thieves the perfect cover to operate.
These people that "Runs and walks around like headless chickens" all have one goal, to get to whereever they are going or coming from no matter what.
How do you speak and discuss with such group of insolent pedestrians about the Blockchain? How could they listen or even comprehend what ever information you try to pass to them if they can't follow simple walk path or traffic rules?
No special trainning or class for being Orderly! And there might never be a special facility to train pedestrians! Even though there are specila trainings for Table manners, Speech, Etiquette, Arts, Music, Sport etc the chances of such training for pedestrians is low or zero in the city i reside.
AVERTING ACCIDENTS AND CASUALITIES
In Lagos Nigeria where i was born and grew up, there are hundredsof Pedestrian Bridges through out the city to keep users safe from fast cars, speeding trucks and Power Bikes, as strange as it sounds, these bridges are still ditched and you could see thousands of pedestrians going headlong into 4-6 lanes busy roads, many have been crushed to death by cars and trucks out of carelessness and several other injured due to human Stampedes.
What happens if you ditch Pedestrian Bridges
The Governement had to take drastic measures to put some senses in road users, people who walk anyhow, ignore road signs and those who failed to use the pedestrian bridges gets arrested and locked up in Special Mobile Prison Trucks, some for 24 hours and others more or less. This restored some senses back into road users even though there are still some stubborn ones still not complying.
If i have my way, i would suggest for the Governement of the City to tighten it's grips on these pedestrians, implementing a more severe punishment might yield optimum order or near-to-perfect order to walking men and women, this move would save more lives and reduce casualties.
