Located in the village of Oia, on the island of Santorini, Greece, this bright and white summer house designed by Kapsimalis Architects consists of a cellar house located in the volcanic soil and a small outdoor structure at the upper level.
Inside the cellar house there is a living room with a small kitchen, two bedrooms with bathroom, a steam room and a sauna. The outdoor courtyard has been designed as a platform with a view of the volcano. An infinity pool, a semi-open vaulted space and seating areas make up this platform. The main idea of the architects was the exploitation of the amorphous curves of the existing cave in a sculptural living space and the design of an outdoor platform with a swimming pool suspended from the volcanic cliffs. The design of the summer house is totally integrated into the volcanic landscape.
