Recently, my sister and I were in Eminönü, one of the most lively and historical places in Istanbul. In fact, the plan of that day was not entirely to travel. I had a meeting in Eminönü square before. I went there in the morning, I had my meeting. After the meeting was over, the day became much more enjoyable for us. Because my sister and I decided to walk the streets and experience that beautiful atmosphere.
As soon as we left the meeting, Eminönü's lively atmosphere drew us in. People, voices, seagulls, ferry whistles... Everything was together. The weather was pretty nice too. It was neither too hot nor too cold. It was an ideal day for a full walk. When this happened, we started to explore the streets without any hurry.
Our first stop was the Egyptian Bazaar. This is one of the most famous places in Istanbul. As soon as we entered, the smell of spices greeted us. Spices, Turkish delights, teas... Everywhere was very lively and lively. Tourists are constantly taking photos, sellers are promoting their products, everyone is trying to discover something. We also walked around slowly. We looked at some stalls, asked the price, sometimes we just watched.
The Egyptian Bazaar was as lively as the inside and the outside. When we left the bazaar, we got into the streets again. The streets of Eminönü are narrow but very lively. You feel like there's a different story around every corner. Small shops, old buildings, historical textures... It's like Istanbul's past and present are intertwined here.
We had to go uphill a little while walking. Frankly, this part challenged us a little. After a while, we felt tired, but we still didn't want to stop. Because the surroundings were so beautiful that... We continued by saying "Let's walk a little more". Sometimes we just stopped and watched around. Even watching people was a pleasure.
One of the most beautiful parts of Eminönü is that it is very close to the sea. The closer you get to the beach, the more you hear the sound of the seagulls. The sounds of the ferry are coming, the smell of the sea is felt. Especially the places where there are fish bread boats attract a lot of attention. Tourists usually stand here, take pictures and eat fish bread.
A little further on, the New Mosque appeared in all its glory. It's a really impressive structure. Pigeons in front of it, people around it... A full view of Istanbul. When you look a little higher, the silhouette of Süleymaniye Mosque is visible. This shows how special Eminönü is. You can see more than one historical building at the same time.
Eminönü is not just a sightseeing point. It is also a place where you feel the spirit of Istanbul. There is both a past and a present here. There are both locals and tourists. Everyone walks in the same streets, looking at the same view.
We spent more time that day right across the beach, that is, on the Egyptian Bazaar. This place seemed a little calmer and enjoyable to explore. I noticed a new detail at every step. Sometimes a door, sometimes a window, sometimes a street sign... Even small things were remarkable.
After a long walk, it was time to rest. Our feet were tired, but we were very happy. One of the best moments of the day started here. My sister and I decided to drink a Turkish coffee cooked on embers, that is, in the sand.
The coffee shop was a small but very friendly place. It was very enjoyable to even watch the coffee slowly cooking in the sand. Even the smell of our coffees made us happy. The fatigue passed in an instant. We sat down, drank our coffee and talked about the day. Sometimes the simplest moments are the most valuable ones.
At that moment, I thought... Eminönü is not just a trip, it's an experience. People get tired and rest here. He is both in the crowd and withdrawn to his own world.
At the end of the day, it's time to go home. Frankly, it could be difficult to use public transport after walking so much. Fortunately, our car was with us. This was a great comfort for us. Otherwise, waiting for the bus tiredly could be a little challenging.
There was a sweet tiredness when we got in the car. But at the same time, we had accumulated very good memories. It wasn't just a walk that day. It was also a quality time spent together.
Eminönü is a must-see place for everyone who comes to Istanbul. If one day you come to Istanbul, be sure to stop by Eminönü Square. Walk on its streets, enter its bazaar, see its mosques, sit on the beach, have a coffee.
