That begins it. An insignificant warning that is simple to overlook. The sort of thing you would giggle off if it weren't said so low. Once you hear it, though, you see the corner as never before.
You first try to behave as usual. You stay where your eyes should be and act as though nothing has altered. Your brain keeps drawing you back to it, though. There is what? Why not look? The stronger your curiosity gets the more you resist.
The room now feels different. The quiet reaches on. Even the tiniest sound appears louder and appears to want your attention. You convince yourself it's nothing. Just a side of a building. only darkness. Just your mind filling up gaps It is unclear.
But then you start to notice things. The way the light falls just short on that side. The way it feels like something is present, not moving, but instead… waiting. Just being in a manner that feels wrong without seeking attention.
Do not look in the corner.
