Réalisation de la crête : taille des piques dans le polystyrène extrudé, recouvertes de Worbla Black Art, puis fixées sur le crâne grâce au pouvoir collant du worbla chaud, découpe des voiles dans du Worbla Transpa Art, sculpture (rudimentaire) de vaisseaux sanguins au fer à souder, soudure des voiles aux piques grâce à du Worbla Finest Art, puis peinture.

Creation of the crest: cutting of the spikes in extruded polystyrene, covered with worbla, then fixed on the skull thanks to the sticky power of hot worbla, cutting of the sails in Worbla Transpa Art, sculpture of blood vessels with soldering iron, Welding of sails to spikes with Worbla Finest Art then painting.

Fabrication de la pommette avec une forme en argile, sur laquelle je suis venue mouler mon worbla. Ensuite, plus qu'à retirer l'argile, et à fixer tout ça !

Manufacture of the cheekbone with a clay shape, on which I came to mould my worbla. Then, more than just removing the clay, and fixing all that!

Ici, j'ai voulu imiter de la vieille peau momifiée qui serait restée accrochée au crâne, tout en renforçant la tenue de la pommette. On voit bien l'état du Worbla Black Art avant et après être chauffé. Pour les "perles" en verre, je les découvre grâce au fer à souder.

Here, I wanted to imitate the old mummified skin that would have remained attached to the skull, while reinforcing the hold of the cheekbone. You can see the state of Worbla Black Art before and after being heated. For the glass "pearls", I discover them thanks to the soldering iron.

Fabrication et peinture des anneaux de corne. Utilisation du Worbla Transpa Art pour son côté très lisse. Après une dizaine de couches de peinture dorée, j'ai tressé des ficelles de lin avec des fils de grosse laine, et enfilé une perle en œil de tigre.

Manufacture and painting of horn rings. Use of Worbla Transpa Art for its very smooth side. After a dozen layers of golden paint, I braided linen strings with thick wool yarns and put on a pearl in tiger's eye.

Peinture de sous-couche du crâne : différenciation des parties osseuses des parties de peau. Renforcement des ombrages et passage d'une patine dorée sur la peau.

Undercoat painting of the skull: differentiation of the bone parts of the skin parts. Reinforcement of the shadows and passage of a golden patina on the skin.

Peinture de signes tribaux, parce que ce casque est avant tout un artefact de magicienne :D ! Les breloques sont tressées en laine, lin et chanvre, avec des insertions de perles en pierres naturelles (œil de tigre, citrine) et en bois.
J'ai également ajouté des touffes de poils à la base des cornes (peau de lapin).

Painting tribal signs, because this helmet is above all an artifact of magician: D! The charms are woven in wool, linen and hemp, with inserts of natural stone beads (tiger's eye, citrine) and wood.
I also added tufts of hair at the base of the horns (rabbit skin).

Deuxième étape de la peinture : le tracés des écailles ! Je suis partie sur un modèle de peau d'iguane, avec un effet magma.
Dans le fond, vous pouvez-voir mon tableau d'atelier, c'est super pratique.

The second step of painting: drawing the scales! I left on a model of iguana skin, with a magma effect.
In the background, you can see my work table, it's very practical.

Et voilà le bébé fini, avec un gros renfort des ombres et imperfections, et une peau toute neuve.

And here is the finished baby, with a big reinforcement of shadows and imperfections, and a brand new skin.

Les "trucs" qui n'ont pas marché / The "stuff" that didn't work out

J'avais utilisé de la colle à bois en temps que verni. Grave erreur, car si elle devient translucide au séchage, elle est loin d'être waterproof. Je l'ai découvert aux dépends du casque un weekend pluvieux, qui lui a valu la deuxième session de peinture. J'ai ensuite utilisé un verni digne de ce nom.

L'appui sur le front était mal moulé, et me cisaillait la peau. J'ai mis une pièce en cuir (sauvagement collée) pour amortir l'appui.

I had used wood glue as varnish. Great mistake, because if it becomes translucent at drying, it is far from waterproof. I discovered it during a rainy weekend, which earned the helmet a second painting session. I then used a real verni this time.
The support on the forehead was badly moulded, and sheared my skin. I put a piece of leather (glued) to cushion the support.

Le worbla noir utilisé pour les dents se déchire facilement : j'ai donc édenté par mégarde mon casque à plusieurs reprises. A l'avenir, j'utiliserai le Worbla Meshed Art (renforcé par un maillage en nylon) pour les petites pièces suceptibles de casser.

Je ne l'ai pas pesé, mais son poids me permet de le porter deux heures maximum d'affilée, sans quoi des douleurs à la nuque risquent de survenir.

The black worbla used for teeth tears easily, so I accidentally edent my helmet several times. In the future, I will use Worbla Meshed Art (strengthened by a nylon mesh) for small parts that may break.
I didn't weigh it, but its weight allows me to carry it for a maximum of two hours in a row, otherwise neck pain may occur.
