Who could expect that nice Spring days would become a rarity even here in the European South but I couldn't let this day just pass despite my post op status. Seems that I am not the only one enjoying a day out though:
And it's not just the cat of course, more people are predictably enjoying the area around SNFCC, a fantastic complex that worth clicking its link to see what it is about (I have covered it on an old post of mine as well):
Cycling by the water on such a lovely day does wonders:
Among the lucky ones under this bright Athenian sun is this spider:
The above is a creation from Louise Bourgeois named "Maman" (1999) and I was lucky to capture it during its 7 month visit in my bithplace. Now, I am a Scorpion, she is a Spider, shall we match?
Bicycle service station. How cool!
What is not cool at all is that the pump is broken (if not vandalised) and it was the only thing I needed.
Just in case you're wondering which country hosts those beauties:
Let's head South as that's where the sea is:
On my left hand is the TAE KWON DO stadium built in 2004 for Athens's Olympics:
I really like the optics of it and how they tried to offer vessel's curves to it as it is located so close to the sea. I had to stand on my toes in order to take a shot over this gross fence otherwise it would look like this:
Hopefully will catch better images of it later.
I love how those rosemary bushes smell, I love to use them while cooking too:
I told you I head for the sea didn't I? Such a perfect day to be around:
From this spot I see a retired boat, intriguing enough to get a closer look on it later:
At the moment let's get one more image of the stadium I showed before under the boiling sky:
Let's see that boat from close now:
Looks like it's got stories to tell right?
The following one is still offering joy to people though not as well travelled as the previous one:
Fancy a small bay flooded by small boats? Be my guest:
From this point I'm only a breath away from the local nautical museum which among other important items one of its most emblematic ones is the battleship "AVEROF":
It was named after the last name of its donor and joined the Hellenic fleet in 1910 and fought successfully against the Turkish one only 2 years later.
A few meters away one can see this copy of an ancient Greek vessel built in 1985:
In case you wonder how this ship was manned back 2500 years ago (or so) you can have a look at this sign:
Very close age to the battleship I showed you before is the following ship, made in 1908 in US and was given to Greece in 1947:
It was used for 40 years by the Greek Telecommunications Organisation (hence it reads "OTE" on its chimney) and it is the oldest cable ship in the world still on its original steam engines!
Next to it is this beauty born in Scotland in 1929:
As I start cycling back I get one more view point to the TAE KWON DO stadium which I guess doesn't hurt that much to share:
View to the sea from the top doesn't hurt much either:
Last shots of the SNFCC before I wave it goodbye for today:
Here's a video with bits of the day's cycling:
