Back in the day I used to shave everything. Well, not everything, just the downstairs. It added the appearance of length to my manbits and to some extent felt cooler. But man was it itchy.
My wife also shaved everything. For her it was legit everything except for her head. It didn't do much for her, it just looked "better". I agreed at the time.
Then we got older and had kids and got a bit lazier about grooming. We also got less vain and stopped caring about what we looked like so much. So we stopped shaving. I stopped shaving my pubes and she stopped shaving anything. Life got a lot less itchy! Now I actually like her hairy look, I think she would look weird shaved. After a certain age I just don't think it looks right!
While I won't fault people for personal preferences I sometimes wonder if people really think about where those preferences come from. For us it was just a "everybody's doing it" mentality. We saw people in pictures and thought that it was just what everyone was doing. Maybe at the time it was (from what I hear from nudists who actually go to clubs it's beginning to change), but where did the whole trend begin? When did people decide that they really wanted to look like their pre-pubescent selves?
Was it porn? Was it the baby-boomers fearing the loss of their youth? What was it that made folks decide they wanted to be itchy and (for women) moist?
All I know is I am glad we got over that!
