Hello, today I am going to show you a super simple way to make caramelized popcorn at home 😊
It is not very complicated to make, although I know firsthand that some people do not usually come out with this simple and delicious recipe, so, let's do it!
The first thing is to make the popcorn, here we have two options. We can buy the microwave popcorn packets or we can make it from the corn, which is what I will do 😊
In a pot, preferably cast iron, we are going to place 100g or half a cup of popcorn, 6 tablespoons of vegetable oil, 3 tablespoons of water and salt to taste.
And yes, we will make them first with salt, even though we are going to caramelize them later. This will enhance the flavors and will also make the sweetness more controlled, that is, when eating it, the sweetness will not sting our throats 😊
After adding all of the above, place the covered pot over medium heat. This is important, MEDIUM FIRE!
If you place it on high heat, they will burn before they all explode and if, on the contrary, we place it on low heat, they will not reach enough temperature to explode or, failing that, they will explode with little force and will remain small and hard.
Also important, don't open the lid, so if you have a glass lid that would be great. Otherwise, you can also peek through any small opening to see if the pot is already full, although the ideal is to let yourself be guided by your ear, practice will make them experts, so don't be afraid to experiment 😊
Now, once the popcorn has been removed, we are going to make the caramel in the same pot.
The amount will depend on the amount of popcorn we have. I used 6 to 8 tablespoons of sugar and 2 tablespoons of honey 😊
The candy point, I feel, would be the most complicated part, although if you follow the photos, you will be able to achieve it, I am using high heat. At first nothing is stirred, we simply wait and when you start to see that the sugar melts and begins to brown, we will mix there and continue to do so until we do not feel grains of sugar with the paddle.

Once our caramel is ready, we turn off the heat, quickly add the popcorn and stir until we see no caramel at the bottom, that means that everything has already been absorbed 😊
The next thing is to turn everything in a metal tray and let it cool for at least 10 minutes.
After 10 minutes, the most difficult part of the recipe arrives, trying to make equal portions, WITHOUT EATING HALF IN THE PROCESS 😂
