The Ultimate Beginner's Guide for Street Photography 4
Mobile Photography
Hello Steemians!
I am posting another one helpful guide for our photo-friends. This is not only for pro photographers or expert, but everyone can follow this and make better photos with his mobile phone (yes with phone) no mater what company is, what model or how many money you gave.
All photos are taken with a Huawei P10.
The difference of a low budget mobile and a high budget is that you will have better definition and quality, but at least for me the quality is not the best for #street-photographers.
Lets start with some tips :
1. Be ready for action & One thought/One shot
I always keep my phone in camera mode to be fast in action when i want to shot something.
A great shot/moment is easy to lose. And there are no excuses such as "Great shot, oh were is my phone..." and because of this guide speaks about mobile photography, there are no excuses not be ready.
As the title says, don't think twice and simply capture the photo. Many people grab their phone, enable the camera, frame the photo, and... oh crap. I lost the moment. Don't think twice and act as fast as you can!
2. Light is your best friend
Photography is all about using light. No mater what will be captured or not, the light is the key. Simply follow the light and try to focus. The better light to your subject is the clearer will be your photo. If you want to shoot inside your house, don't forget to open the lights. Your phone is not the best in low light situations, and the build in flash is for sure not the best so better capitalize on lighting conditions tour device functions under best.
3. No zoom just walk
You got a mobile device so why not to walk and take your object closer if you want to zoom. Why? Its simply. All mobile devices does not have analog zoom, but the providing zoom is digital. So If you zoom in, you will lose quality(depend from what device you got).
4. Stay still
Your camera phone is not like dslr/compact camera. If you don't keep your phone stable, the picture will not be clear. And that's because your phone's camera shutter speed is not fast to stabilize your hands movement, and sometimes in low light situations where the camera will select longer speeds to compersate for the lack of light, your shots will be worst.
Keep in mind that some camera phones also got shutter lag (it's the time between when you press the button and when the camera takes the shot).
So you need to hold the phone still a little longer to ensure it doesn't take a shot you are lowering it away from the subject.
5.Chose and edit after
Be selective! Try to chose your best captures but don't delete anything. Edit your best first.
There are many programms to edit your photos with or even without a computer. I prefer to edit my shots to my computer but you can chose whatever you feel good but don't forget that there is no magic applications. Some shots can't be saved.
6. Try different angles
When you start searching for the good frame, try to change your viewing angle. You will find many different shots for only one object and maybe one of them will be the best.
So do not be afraid and get down on the ground, climb up on a high vantage point, move to the side and change your point of view.
7. Use your hand's free
One last think I am sure you didn't know is that your hand's free can help you control better your "mobile" camera. The button at it can fire the camera so you will be able to capture the shot without moving your hands.
8. Have fun
This is the last but not least tip/rule that you should stick to no matter what type of photographer you are. Join other photographers and walk with them. Spend some time talking with other people about your photopassion and you will be rewarded for all these.
