The arrowhead of these petitions was an eloquent and fluid writer in the person of Mr H. O Uwaifo a.k.a "The Gandhi of Benin". In all these issues the Oba maintained a non-guilty position.
After the death of Iyase Okoro-Otun in 1943 and with the stiff challenge to his Obaship were the Iyase was seen b the Oba as having taken side with the people, he then decided to abolish the title of Iyase and replac it with the title of OBADEYANEDO.
The literal translation of the title is, The Oba has suppressed the Binis.
The Oba went further to place a publication on the Daily Times of November 8th, !947 that he has abolished the Iyase title and declared it as EGIE- OGHIONBA meaning "OBA's ENEMY TITLE."
