The B.T.P.A demanded the Oba withdraw the title from chief I depending. In one of their articles, they described Idehen as a dead wood diva asked that they should be allowed to propose a candidate for the post if you came question that all the antics of B.T.P.A. was sponsored by a powerful individual to undermine the monarchy.

When it became clear or otherwise that day Oba was not willing to do their bidding, on 19th April 1948 at a meeting of the BENIN DIVISIONAL COUNCIL, a motion by Mr Imasogie and seconded by prince Uwaifiokun Eweka for the Oba to make Gius Obaseki as Iyase of Benin was passed.
A dissenting voice in the person of chief Ajayi, the Enogie of Igbekhue was not only shouted down but he was also thrown out of the hall.
