Sometimes we go through life wondering whether the decisions we make are the right ones. Sometimes we walk away from certain people, situations and moments wandering whether we should have done that or question whether our motives are right. The capitalist system is designed to sew this kind of doubt and fear in everyone because as long as we feel somehow subservient to a system, somehow subject to some rules, we will always question decisions which give us freedom.
The millennials are quite good at breaking away from oppressive, controlling systems which their parents created and which are designed to destroy the soul and the inherent creativity that goes with it. Indeed, the factory worker mentality which has spawned a whole raft of dogma about 9–5 working days and ‘going to work’ are merely concepts which precondition people to obey and be consensually oppressed by capitalist masters. At some point this had to stop and slowly we are seeing a break away from this oppressive mentality and a move towards a freer state where everyone can ‘enjoy’ their lives and not merely exist to earn money to pay essential bills.
The rise of Universal Basic Income as a mechanism for achieving the kind of Utopian Dream described in K.T.Reeder’s 2016 concept album ‘Utopian Dream’ has been realised by the likes of Isaac Mao with Musicoin and by MannaBase and SwiftDemand which are putting into practise decades of clear thought around the concept of UBI. Musicoin is interesting because it is method by which musicians can earn a decent living through producing music as opposed to the UBI models which work on the basis of free income regardless of purpose or work. Either model works and both should be equally supported by the global community as they are clear, practical ways to deal with global poverty and inequality across the globe.
Many people have talked about and dreamed about Universal Basic Income and now that we have real platforms offering it it is only a matter of time before poverty and inequality are a thing of the past.
