YouTube had a lot of ups and downs this year, but I want to focus on my favorite parts. I will be making a second article about my least favorite things. Alright, let's get started!
I think my favorite moment was the Adpocalypse. Yes, this is my favorite moment. The reason why I love this moment is not because of the loss of income or anything like that. It is because, with this moment and all the other Adpocalypses that happened, it shows YouTube that it's CEO sucks. I'm one that hopes the current CEO of YouTube gets fired, and that we get someone capable of leading the website.
I don't think Susan Wojcicki is a horrible CEO. She certainly has done some good things for the website, like the damage control for losing all the Ads. However, she messes up more than a CEO for the second largest search engine should.
My second favorite moment was my whole experience with putting Age of Empires III on my channel. I don't really care about the growth I got from the game, but it's more the experience of having the community for the game piss me off. I love the game, but livestreaming it to the community really messed with me. It was hard to grapple with playing a game you love, and dealing with all the toxic people that found your channel. However, it made the nice people all the better, and really made me value my community a lot more than I did before playing Age of Empires III.
My third favorite moment on YouTube was the amount of attention Bitcoin got on YouTube. Phillip DeFranco and Some Ordinary Gamers were the two people I learned about Bitcoin and cryptocurrency from. I eventually started trading cryptocurrency and it really changed how I looked at my channel. In one month, I made about ten times the amount of money I've made off of YouTube in the two and a half years I've been making videos.
I'm one of those people who really loves the idea of cryptocurrency, and support it. I think that it is one of those underground things, like YouTube once was, that people need to be educated about. I'm glad that YouTube offers such and easy-to-use platform where we can educate each other and how this stuff works.
Well, that's it for my 3 favorite moments on YouTube for 2017. What were yours?
