Lots of awesome things happened to me this year on YouTube. My channel grew significantly, and I refined a lot of skills I have to make them way better. There is, however, one thing I really didn't like that happened this year.
"YouTube is over!" Said some people after the first Adpocalypse, and that simply isn't true. YouTube is still growing and will probably keep growing until some government intervention happens, if it does at all. These people, who say YouTube is over because they can't make free money, are who I hated in 2017.
I've said this in videos before, but if you rely on YouTube AdSense, you are extremely dumb when it comes to making money on YouTube. There are much easier and better ways to make money on the site, like sponsors, that pay much higher prices.
Anyways, back to the YouTube is Over Party. I do agree that YouTube is cracking down on a lot of people for political reasons, but not to the extreme of censorship. I mean, while YouTube is taking away some people's AdSense, they aren't deleting channels. These people need to remember that YouTube is currently a private business, and it can do whatever it wants.
I'm pretty sure every year I've been on YouTube there has always been a YouTube is Over group. These people, in my opinion, are taking their problems and projecting them on to all other channels. I'm a gaming channel, why would a political channel's standing and ad revenue be related to mine in a meaningful way? I just don't understand.
This is all related to AdSense. I think it needs to just go away completely. I have a lot of respect for people who can make a living off of Instagram, because Instagram offers no in-app source of money; you have to make money all on your own. Steemit, with my little experience, is actually a lot easier to make money on without things like sponsors, but doesn't offer a large audience like YouTube does.
Well, hopefully all of reading can see what I didn't like in 2017 about YouTube. Fell free to ask for clarifications in the comments! :)
