“Kiricocho” es, en definitiva, mucho más que una simple palabra, no importa en que parte del orbe nos encontremos, la futbolera voz de “Kiricocho” está siempre presente dentro de un campo de fútbol, una expresión utilizada por un jugador para desearle «mala suerte» a su contrario en un determinado lance del juego.
"Kiricocho" is, in short, much more than just a word, no matter where you are in the world, the footballing voice of "Kiricocho" is always present on a football pitch, an expression used by a player to wish his opponent "bad luck" at a certain point in the game.
“Kirichocho” es el mote con que se conoce a Juan Carlos, un aficionado del Club Estudiantes de La Plata (Argentina). Cada ocasión que este asistía a una práctica de su Club, uno de sus jugadores se lesionaba, en fin, el hombre era un “salado” -en México-, un “gafe” -en España-. Estudiantes por aquel entonces estaba bajo las órdenes de Carlos Salvador Bilardo, una de las personalidades más «cabulera» de este deporte.
"Kirichocho" is the nickname with which Juan Carlos, a fan of the Club Estudiantes de La Plata (Argentina), is known. Every time he attended a practice of his Club, one of his players got injured, in other words, the man was a "salado" -in Mexico-, a "gafe" -in Spain-. Estudiantes at that time was under the orders of Carlos Salvador Bilardo, one of the most kabbalistic personalities in the sport.
Bilardo, inteligente como él solo y con ese carácter suyo, lejos de prohibir la entrada al bueno de "Kiri", le asignó la tarea de recibir a todos los equipos que Estudiantes tuviera que jugar de local en el Campeonato Argentino para traerles mala suerte, ese hombre se encargaba de gafar a sus rivales con su sola presencia.
Bilardo, clever as he was and with that character of his, far from banning good old "Kiri", assigned him the task of receiving every team that Estudiantes had to play at home in the Argentine Championship in order to bring them bad luck, that man was in charge of jinxing their rivals with his mere presence.
¡No existen límites en para un hincha cuando del amor a la camiseta se trata! “Kiricocho” cumplió con la encomienda de Bilardo, y lo hizo con creces, consiguiendo una efectividad sorprendente, ya que Estudiantes se consagro Campeón ganando todos sus partidos, cayendo solamente ante Boca y eso habrá sido, casi con toda seguridad, porque el equipo Xeneize no le permitió a “Kiricocho” acercarse a su plantel.

"Kiricocho" fulfilled Bilardo's assignment, and he did it with flying colours, achieving a surprising effectiveness, since Estudiantes became champions by winning all their matches, losing only to Boca, and that was almost certainly because the Xeneize team did not allow "Kiricocho" to get close to their squad.
Aquel personaje se convertiría en el talismán de Bilardo, que luego de 10 años terminaría por aterrizar en Sevilla dándose cuenta que, misteriosamente, “Kiricocho” ya había llegado ahí unos años antes que él.

Bilardo cuenta en sus memorias, que se había quedado sumamente asombrado y casi perplejo durante su primera etapa en Sevilla, cuando en un lanzamiento de penal escucho desde la platea el grito de ¡”Kiricocho”, “Kiricocho”!
Bilardo recounts in his memoirs that he had been astonished and almost perplexed during his first period in Seville, when during a penalty kick he heard from the stalls the cry of "Kiricocho", "Kiricocho"!
Sevilla, una ciudad que ha albergado a ilustres futbolistas argentinos, entre ellos, ni más ni menos que Diego Armando Maradona; una ciudad profundamente espiritual y creyente de este tipo de supersticiones, rápidamente propago entre sus pobladores, que viven el futbol con una especial pasión divida entre béticos y sevillistas, la voz de “Kiricocho” que con el tiempo paso a ser patrimonio del lenguaje futbolero.
Seville, a city that has hosted illustrious Argentinian footballers, among them none other than Diego Armando Maradona; a deeply spiritual city and true believer in this type of superstitions, quickly spread among its inhabitants, who live football with a special passion divided between Béticos and Sevillistas, the voice of "Kiricocho" which with time became a heritage of the football language.
