This reminds me of last year.
Last year, as I was heading out of the area, I came across a roadrunner in December. Originally thinking that they were only hot-weathered, desert birds (thank you Warner Brothers) I was surprised to first see them in Arkansas, and then even more so to see them in December. Anyway, these birds are rather quick, but since they like to hide in the bushes, you don't always realize that they are there. Most likely, they see us coming and use their speed to hide before we even can catch a glimpse of them. Can you find the roadrunner in the photo above?
I was trying to capture a good angle between the bushes as the roadrunner darted along, but I soon realized I would not be able to produce the photos that I was looking for. After all, I had my regular lens on the camera and was in my truck, stopped on the gravel road. Soon, I switched things up to increase my odds of capturing some better photos.
Eventually I was able to photograph the bird in a satisfactory manner. Moreover, I finished up just before the first vehicle came by, so it was perfect timing. Interestingly enough, this may actually be the same roadrunner from last December. I'm not sure, but it was in the same area. The photos below are my other favorites. Enjoy!
