¡Hola a todos los amantes de películas y series!
Ahora que estamos en la era de la saga expandida de Scream, Grita antes de morir, planeaba ver todas las películas de Scream, recuerdo haber ido a ver la primera al cine cuando tenía 13 años, mis amigos y yo estábamos emocionados de poder ir a ver una película clasificación B, para gente de 12 años o mayores... pero eso no es de lo que haré reseña hoy, en lugar de ver todas las de Scream me puse a ver todas las cinco películas de Destino Final.
What are they about?
Well, basically the five are about the same thing... I know, that doesn't sound interesting at all, does it? but give it a try.
It's all about cheating Death by finding clues all around... still not interested in it? well, here come the details.
The protagonist goes to an event or a place along with a group of friends and many other persons, they're having fun, minding their own business when suddenly tragedy strikes, a very elaborated accident starts to happen and everyone dies, but the accident is seen first by the protagonist as a premonition giving them a short time to save themselves and their friends or as many people as they can, but honestly, what would you do if suddenly a hysteric person starts to yell that every one will die at that moment? would you believe him/her? would you run away to be safe just in case? would you ignore the warning? considering that the proof they have is "I saw it in my head" it's easy to asume not many people will take the warning seriously.
In every movie, the protagonist sees the tragedy before it happens, tries to save everyone but only a few listen to the warnings and get to live... but not for long... Death has a design and makes sure it's followed, one by one everyone that was saved dies in accidents, some silly preventable accidents, others a more elaborated way to die but in the end Death wins every time, there's really no escape from it.
¿De qué tratan?
Bueno, básicamente las cinco tratan de lo mismo... lo sé, eso no suena interesante ¿o si? pero denle una oportunidad.
Todo es sobre engañar a la Muerte encontrando pistas al rededor... ¿aún no están interesados? bueno, aquí vienen los detalles.
El/la protagonista va a un evento o lugar junto con su grupo de amigos y muchas otras personas, se están divirtiendo, ocupándose de sus asuntos cuando de pronto llega la tragedia, un accidente muy elaborado comienza a desarrollarse y todos mueren, pero el accidente es visto primero por el protagonista como una premonición dándoles poco tiempo para salvarse a sí mismos y sus amigos o a tanta gente como puedan, pero honestamente, ¿qué harían si de pronto una persona histérica empieza a gritar que todos morirán en ese momento? ¿le creerían? ¿huirían para estar a salvo por si acaso? ¿ignorarían la advertencia? considerando que la prueba que tienen es "lo vi en mi cabeza" es fácil asumir que no muchos tomarán en serio la advertencia.
En cada película el protagonista ve la tragedia antes de ocurrir, trata de salvar a todos pero solo unos pocos escuchan las advertencias y logran vivir... pero no por mucho... la Muerte tiene un diseño y se asegura de que sea seguido, uno a uno todos los que se salvaron mueren en accidentes, algunos en tontos accidentes que se podían prevenir, otros en maneras más elaboradas pero al final la Muerte siempre gana, realmente no hay escape de ella.
Final Destination 1 - The one with the plane.
Destino Final 1 - La del avión
The first one is a classic you could say. It came out in the year 2000... wow, I feel old, 22 years ago I went to the movies to watch it... The main accident happens in a plane, that whole scene is great, it's not full of CGI as many movies nowadays, you can feel the desperation of the passengers as the plane starts to shake and tear apart.
Here the main protagonist is Alex (Devon Sawa), he's the one who gets the premonition and can't explain it, he just wants to get off the plane. The whole class is going to Paris along with two teachers, obviously everyone's excited about it but after Alex's premonition it's all desperation, anger and grief.
Alex gets kicked out of the plane, his best friend Tod (Chad Donella) follows him to make sure he's ok; though guy Carter (Kerr Smith) starts a fight with Alex and gets kicked out too, his girlfriend Terry (Amanda Detmer) goes with him, Billy (Seann William Scott) by accident is thrown out with the troubled group and Clear (Ali Larter) quietly follows them all because she feels Alex was telling the truth about knowing the plane was going to blow up, and one of their teachers stays behind with the group and airport security to wait for the next flight and catch up with the rest of the class.
Alex manages to find Death's plan, he just has to keep his eyes open to see the clues to find out who's next, how and when. It's a race not only against time but against an unknown force as well.
La primera podría decirse es ya un clásico. Salió en el año 2000... vaya, me siento vieja, hace 22 años fui al cine a verla... El accidente principal ocurre en un avión, toda esa escena es genial, no está saturada de CGI como muchas películas de hoy en día, puedes sentir la desesperación de los pasajeros mientras el avión comienza a agitarse y despedazarse.
Aquí el protagonista principal es Alex (Devon Sawa), el es quien recibe la premonición y no puede explicarlo, solo se quiere bajar del avión. Toda su clase va en camino a París junto con dos maestros, obviamente todos están emocionados pero luego de la premonición de Alex todo es desesperación, enojo y dolor.
Alex es sacado del avión, su mejor amigo Tod (Chad Donella) lo sigue para asegurarse está bien; el chico rudo Carter (Kerr Smith) comienza una pelea con Alex y también es sacado, su novia Terry (Amanda Detmer) va con el, Billy (Seann William Scott) por accidente es aventado fuera con el grupo problemático, y Clear (Ali Larter) discretamente los sigue porque siente que Alex está diciendo la verdad sobre saber que el avión explotará, y uno de sus maestros se queda con el grupo y seguridad del aeropuerto para esperar al siguiente vuelo y alcanzar al resto de la clase.
Alex se las arregla para descubrir el plan de la Muerte, solo tiene que mantener los ojos abiertos para ver pistas para averiguar quien sigue, como y cuando. Es una carrera no solo contra el tiempo sino contra una fuerza desconocida.
Final Destination 2 - The one that makes you think twice before tailing a loading truck
Destino Final 2 - La que te hace pensar dos veces antes de ir detrás de un camión de carga.
For this one, the one with the unexplained premonition is Kimberly (A.J Cook), she gets it as she's driving through the highway, ahead of the road a chain holding logs on a truck breaks causing all the heavy logs to fall on the highway and all vehicles crash. This scene has more visual effects than the last movie, in my opinion they focused more on the gore here than in the first one, and some of the deaths are hard to believe.
With some help from someone who has gone through this, Kimberly knows Death has a design, and looks for clues to prevent it from happening and gets an idea of how to save everyone, but since rules aren't clear for her or anybody all she has are theories that are hard to test without any deadly risk.
Para esta entrega, la que tiene la inexplicable premonición es Kimberly (A.J. Cook), ve todo mientras va manejando en la autopista, adelante del camino la cadena que sujetaba unos troncos a un camión se rompe, causando que los pesados troncos caigan sobre la autopista y chocando con los vehículos. Esta escena tiene más efectos visuales que en la película pasada, en mi opinión se enfocaron más en lo sangriento aquí que en la primera, y algunas de las muertes son difíciles de creer.
Con la ayuda de alguien que ha pasado por esto, Kimberly sabe que la Muerte tiene un diseño, busca pistas para prevenir que eso ocurra y tiene una idea de como salvar a todos, pero ya que las reglas no son claras para nadie, todo lo que tiene son teorías que son difíciles de poner a prueba sin un riesgo letal.
Final Destination 3 - Aren't amusing parks supposed to be, you know... amusing?
Destino Final 3 - ¿No se supone que los parques de diversiones sean, ya saben... divertidos?
Another person gets suddenly a premonition, this time a girl named Wendy (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) sees tragedy before it happens while at an amusing park where she was with her classmates. Right when she and her friends get on a roller coaster she sees it all, the wagons get off trail and the safety protections fail leaving all the riders clinging to life.
Personally, this whole scene is one of my favorites from all five movies, it had me on the edge of my seat watching the whole accident, and Wendy's reaction through all the movie is more believable than how "calm" Alex and Kimberly reacted as their stories developed.
Kimberly finds Death's design, but this time she has all the clues at the reach of her hand thanks to pictures she took during the visit to the park. After her premonition, Kevin (Ryan Merriman), a friend of hers does some research to know if it's possible for a premonition to happen, he learns about the flight 180, the flight where Alex and his friends were, and finds out the same thing has happened before. At first Wendy doesn't want to dig into it, she's grieving and just wants some time and space but Kevin's talk about the flight 180 along with something she sees on the photos she took made her realize that proofs of what would happen in the future have appeared in pictures before.
This is the first time that the one with the premonition can look over again and again to the signs of Death's design, and also Wendy was the first one to have a second premonition.
Otra persona recibe una repentina premonición, esta vez una chica llamada Wendy (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) ve la tragedia antes de que esta ocurra mientras está en un parque de diversiones acompañada de sus compañeros de clase. Justo cuando ella y sus amigos suben a una montaña rusa lo ve todo, los vagones descarrilan y las protecciones de seguridad fallan dejando a los que montan aferrándose a vivir.
Personalmente, toda esta escena es de mis favoritas de las cinco películas, me tuvo mas al borde del asiento mirando todo el accidente, y la reacción de Wendy durante toda la película es más creíble que lo "calmados" que Alex y Kimberly reaccionaron durante el desarrollo de sus historias.
Kimberly encuentra el diseño de la Muerte, pero esta vez tiene todas las pistas al alcance de su mano gracias a fotografías que tomó durante la visita al parque. Luego de la premonición, su amigo Kevin (Ryan Merriman) investiga al respecto para saber si es posible que ocurra una premonición, encuentra la historia sobre el vuelo 180, el vuelo que tomaron Alex y sus amigos, y se da cuenta que ya ha ocurrido esto antes.
Al inicio, Wendy no quiere indagar el tema, está lidiando con su dolor y solo quiere tiempo y espacio pero la charla de Kevin sobre el vuelo 180 junto con algo que ve en las fotografías que tomó le hacen darse cuenta de que ya antes han aparecido pruebas en fotos de lo que pudiera pasar en el futuro.
Esta es la primera vez que quien tiene la premonición puede mirar una y otra vez las señales del diseño de la Muerte, y también Wendy es la primera en tener una segunda premonición.
Final Destination 4 - they kinda lost track here...
Destino Final 4 - como que perdieron el camino aquí...
The big accident in this one happens on a racing track, it's all very silly, hard to believe how a screwdriver could destroy the whole place.
Now we have Nick (Bobby Campo) with the premonition, but this time is not that easy to find Death's design because there were lots of people in the place, chaos happening everywhere and even if he could see the whole design he can't contact all of the persons that were watching the race, where would he begin with all the crowd?
He focuses on saving the ones he know, and some others that just got hints of where to find them.
Nick gets a chance to cheat death again by completely preventing another massive accident to happen thanks to having a second premonition, he's been the only one of the ones with premonitions that could completely stop Death's plan in motion before tragedy happens, and without accident, there's no Death's design to prevent anymore and everyone's safe... right?... right?!!
El gran accidente en esta ocurre en una pista de carreras, todo es algo ridículo, difícil de creer como un destornillador puede destruir todo el sitio.
Ahora tenemos a Nick (Bobby Campo) con la premonición, pero esta vez no es tan fácil encontrar el diseño de la Muerte porque había demasiada gente en el lugar, caos ocurriendo por todas partes y aunque pudiera ver todo el diseño no puede contactar a todas las personas que presenciaban la carrera, ¿en dónde comenzaría con toda la multitud?
Se concentra en salvar a los que conoce y a algunos pocos de quienes obtuvo pistas de donde encontrarlos.
Nick tiene oportunidad de volver a engañar a la muerte por evitar por completo que otro accidente masivo ocurra gracias a que tuvo una segunda premonición, el ha sido el único de los que han tenido premoniciones que pudo detener por completo el plan que la muerte estaba desarrollando antes de que ocurriera una tragedia, y sun un accidente no hay diseño de la muerte a prevenir y todos están a salvo... ¿cierto?... ¡¡¿cierto?!!
Final Destination 5 - let's go back to the beginning
Destino Final 5 - vayamos de regreso al inicio
Sam (Nicholas D'Agosto) works as a chef in a restaurant and is contemplating the option of working somewhere else. While he's thinking about his possibilities he's invited to a retreat along with some persons he used to work with, he sees this as the opportunity to clear his head and take the best decision for his career.
But, yeah, as you guessed, he gets a premonition, he sees a bridge collapsing and every person that were driving through it falls to their doom, he saves a few and Death starts to go after the survivors one by one, Nick learns the rules of how to cheat Death but now he's not only fighting against an unseen force, but also against his former friend Peter (Miles Fisher) who also got to know the rules and is taking matter in his hands, he saw how Death skipped one if that person killed another one to take that place, so he wants to kill Sam's girlfriend Molly (Emma Bell) because when Sam told him about his premonition he made it clear that Molly didn't die in the accident, she isn't part of Death's design
What would you do if you knew Death was after you? would you dare to kill someone to save yourself? those are the questions Sam and Peter need to answer for themselves if they want to survive, and even though one of them thought they were safe and could carry on with his life, he found out the hard way that cheating Death is not an easy task, he realized that while waiting for his plane to take off and take him to a new beginning... that plane was the 180 flight to Paris and he sees Alex and company being taken off the plane.
By the end of the movie we can see that it was actually a prequel and not the last one, the fourth is the last one and that's why it was called "The Final Destination" and not just Final Destination 4.
Sam (Nicholas D'Agosto) trabaja como chef en un restaurante y está considerando la opción de trabajar en otro sitio. Mientras piensa en sus opciones es invitado a un retiro junto con unas personas con las que solía trabajar, el ve esto como la oportunidad de aclarar su mente y tomar la mejor decisión para su carrera.
Pero, si, como supusieron, el tiene una premonición, ve un puente colapsarse y cada persona que transitaba en el caen a su perdición, salva a algunos y la Muerte comienza a ir tras los sobrevivientes uno a uno, Nick aprende las reglas sobre como engañar a la Muerte pero ahora no solo pelea contra una fuerza invisible, sino también contra su ahora ex amigo Peter (Miles Fisher) quien también conoce las reglas y está tomando el asunto en sus manos, el vio como la Muerte salta a alguien si esa persona mata a alguien más para tomar su lugar, así que quiere matar Molly (Emma Bell), la novia de Sam porque cuando Sam habló de la premonición dejó en claro que Molly no murió en el accidente, ella no es parte del plan de la Muerte.
¿Qué harían si supieran que la muerte anda tras de ustedes? ¿Se atreverían a matar a alguien para salvarse a sí mismos? Estas son preguntas que Sam y Peter necesitan responder para ellos mismos si quieren sobrevivir, y aunque uno de ellos pensó que ya estaban a salvo y podía seguir con su vida, descubrió de la forma difícil que engañar a la Muerte no es tarea fácil, se dio cuenta de esto mientras esperaba que su avión despegara para llevarlo a un nuevo comienzo... ese avión era el vuelo 180 a París y ve a Alex y compañía ser sacados del avión.
Al final de la película podemos ver que de hecho se trata de una precuela y no de la última, la cuarta es la final y es por eso que se llama "El Destino Final" y no solamente Destino Final 4.
Interesting detail
In 4 out of the 5 movies, Tony Todd appears as Mr. Bludworth, a mysterious man that works at a mortuary, he's the one that gives hints to the protagonists about Death and its design.
There's theories that he is Death, or an emisary, but that's open to anyone's own opinion.
Tony Todd is famous for playing Candyman in the 1995 thriller with the same name, but his whole acting career is very wide.

En 4 de las 5 películas, Tony Todd interpreta al Sr. Bludworth, un hombre misterioso que trabaja en una funeraria, el es quien da pistas a los protagonistas sobre la Muerte y su diseño.
Existen teorías de que el es la Muerte, o un emisario, pero eso queda abierto a la opinión de cada quien.
Tony todd es famoso por interpretar a Candyman en la película de terror de 1995 del mismo nombre, pero toda su carrera es muy extensa.
Conclusion
If you enjoy non excesive gore and are the kind of person who likes to look for hidden details, these movies are for you. It's not really necessary to see all five of them to understand the story, as I mentioned, all are about the same, but watching them all together one after one made me see things I didn't noticed before and knowing what was going to happen just because I've seen them before helped me see that there were more clues lying around about everyone's fate, not just the clues that the protagonists found.
It makes you think if there are actual clues everywhere around us.
Conclusión
Si disfrutan el gore no tan excesivo y son la clase de personas que les gusta buscar detalles ocultos, estas películas son para ustedes. No es realmente necesario ver las cinco para entender la historia, como ya mencioné, todas tratan de lo mismo, pero ver todas juntas una tras otra me hizo notar cosas que antes no había hecho, y saber lo que va a ocurrir solo por haberlas visto antes me ayudaron a ver que había mas claves ocultas sobre el destino de cada quien, no solo las pistas que los protagonistas encontraron.
Te hace creer que realmente hay pistas al rededor de nosotros.
