In may last year, I went on a little trip to Dresden as you might already know from my post about the DDR Museum.
Dresden is a city with long a long and rich history, you can probably imagine it from the impressions already.
It was the royal residence for the Kings of Saxony, which furnished the city for centuries.
But Dresden has also some dark history attached to it, most people might know the city from the bombing which happened during World War II, which caused death to approximately 25.000 people.
The whole city center was destroyed during this event and many of the baroque buildings were lost and had to be rebuilt and restored.
After the reunification of the West & East, Dresden became an important center of education, history and politics again.
Dresden with nearly 560.000 inhabitants also offers a dynamic economy feauturing many high-tech branches that settled there.
It's a beautiful city to visit if you come to Germany I can totally recommend taking a few days to explore this fantastic historic scenery.
