Excel is an awesome tool for gathering data for further analysis, and even more awesome is the fact that you can update the connected data with a simple refresh.
Today you are going to learn how to connect Excel to CoinMarketCap. We will pull both historic data and live data into a spreadsheet or a data model and keep that data up to date.
In this example I am using Excel 2013 professional plus pro. You can also use Excel 2010 or Excel 2016. If you are using Excel 2010/2013 you will need to download and/or enable the Power Query add in. If you are using Excel 2016 this is already installed on the ribbons and is known as get and transform data.
This video will form the first part in a series on How to Create a Personal Coin Tracker and Dashboard in Excel. It is common to hold multiple coins on multiple exchanges and in multiple wallet. For this reason it can be difficult to keep track of what, where and how much you have.
There are services that you can use to do this for you, but I find they don’t offer the flexibility that you can have using your own Excel Tracker.
