Greetings, everyone!
Yes, online scammers are everywhere, especially on social media platforms today, either to hack people's accounts or get money from online businesses or crypto, and then disappear from the platform. They are everywhere, some are pretending or disguising themselves to show the right thing to do to make money, but in mind they know what they are doing.
However, staying safe online is very important and we should be mindful of the links we follow or click to avoid our accounts being hacked. Stay alert, wise, and updated too. Ask questions when the need arises in order not to be in trouble.
What steps do I need to take to stay safe online
As I said earlier, carefulness is required. Personality, I don't click links anyhow online and I can't share my details on Facebook or WhatsApp with anybody.
Have I ever faced an online scam?
Many times in different disguising ways, 😂 it is actually funny.
There was a day, my phone rang, and I picked up the call. The guy introduced himself as one of my church members. He mentioned my church name and mentioned that he got my contact from the Mass Choir group where I belong, and he was very true. He said he has dropped a link for me on WhatsApp to follow a group. I said okay. He ended the call. Immediately, I called my Pastor and reported the case. My pastor said, I shouldn't mind him that he is a scammer. What? The man called again, and I asked him which branch he was worshipping. He ended the call and never called back again. This was how he would have hacked my WhatsApp, if I had followed his instructions. God is watching them.
Another one happened on my Telegram. When my boss's telegram account was hacked, the scammer used the account and sent a link for me to follow, which I would see my pictures when I opened the link. Thank God for wisdom. Immediately, I called my boss and asked him about the link on Telegram. He said I shouldn't follow that his account was hacked. I knelt down and thanked God for calling him first before clicking the link.
Which scam is most dangerous today?
- Investment and fake AI/crypto trading scams.
This one involved money and can drain or cause mental and physical damage to the owner. I have been hearing a lot about online investment, and in the long run, everything has gone without a dime. This one is very painful, imagine investing all your billions, hoping to get double the investment, before you knew it, all your money was wiped away, and you became dumbfounded and mad about it.
Just recently, I have started hearing some guys on Facebook talking about AI trading. I said let me try my best. I followed the link, and they said I should deposit, and I asked how much, and they said $10. I said okay, I left the group and deleted them.
Safety Tips
Please be careful, don't be a victim. This year don't let anybody use you and shine or become rich. Ask questions before you follow any link and listen to your inner voice.
