A poll from Kaiser Family Foundation's Vaccine Monitor in May showed that vaccine willingness is down quite a bit. People are more and more aware of the side effects and risks, despite continued claims from officials drumming the robotic "safe and effective" tag line.
As more people got the shot, there were less peopel who didn't get it yet. Those who wanted it as soon as possible are down to 9% of people, with 15% waiting to see. The group for only if required has dropped from 9% in December to 6%. While the only group to have basically not changed their stance, never getting it, is at around 13%.
You also have the media reporting this in an odd way. The Hill said that "vaccine enthusiasm has reached a plateau". Really? A plateau?
Maybe they don't know what a plateau is. The plateau was in January at 41% ASAP. Since then, the ASAP amount has gone down. The reaching of the plateau was in January, not March or April.
The enthusiasm isn't bipartisan, as both two party illusionists are for the shot.
While the growth in vaccine enthusiasm appears to have slowed among independents and Democrats, it has continued to increase among Republicans, with a majority (55%) now saying they have either received at least one dose of the vaccine or intend to do so as soon as possible.
But Repubs are the highest in the never getting category:
One in five Republicans (20%) say they will “definitely not” get vaccinated, down from 29% last month but still substantially larger than the share among independents (13% and Democrats (4%).
If you want to get the shot, ok, but don't be championing authoritarianism to exclude everyone who doesn't from society or from having rights.
