Hello fellow Steemers!
My name is Raphael Motta, but I sign under the moniker of Pestmeester. (Plague Doctor in Dutch)
I'm a full time illustrator/artist, working mostly with brands and bands, but also expanding to book covers, gig posters and alternative movie posters. As well any creative projects that are given to me, including original paintings and drawings.
I mostly work with pen and ink with digital colors, and watercolors and oils are mediums I'm currently studying and plan to master!
I found on the handcraft what the digital art couldn't fulfill, which is the caring for details and the feeling of connection with a physical piece. But don't get fooled, I'm a technology nerd and I actually love pixel art and sometimes try my hand on it!
My inspirations are plenty. Horror movies and books, nature, the occult, cyberpunk, kaijus, dinosaurs, entomology and biology, taxidermy, cryptozoology, the cosmos, dystopian futures, pfx and many more.
I always try to blend the subjects of my inspirations the best I can, so don't get surprised if you see a cyberpunk skeleton with augmentation and tentacles!
Oh, wait!
I'm also an aspiring writer and musician, trying to learn my ways on the keyboard to soon make an investment on a Synthesizer and trying to finish my first short story!.
Aside art stuff, I currently have 5 cats -yes, you read it right, F I V E- at home and I photograph animals and collect bugs and bones I find in my explorations. I also let some Nephilengys Cruentatas live in my balcony, there must be 12 by now and they are getting really big and beautiful!
Frida, Belial and Akuma. Asmodeus and Abaddon haven't been born yet and now is really hard to fit all 5 quietly to take a single picture.
Kitten skeleton yet to be mounted.
Probably a male Ox Beetle Strategus aloeus and some Phyllophaga sp. AKA June Beetles
Nephilengys cruentata
Great kiskadee Pitangus sulphuratus
Young Burrowing Owl Athene cunicularia
Unidentified species
I'm not putting much of my work on the introduction post as I plan to progressively add it on dedicated posts in a regular basis, as well try to be more complementary with processes and exclusive content here on Steemit.
This was a really short summary of the things I do and love, so feel free to ask any questions and I'll try my best to answer them.
I have great plans for the platform and I hope to help shape it nicely on the art side!
Regards,
Pestmeester
