If I should talk about the historical antecedent of feed production in Nigeria since I started this Broiler chicken business,if I am not mistaking, If memory serves me right, I think I have used more than 4 to 5 different feeds. But then, you need to ask me why do I keep changing feed every now and then? It's nothing other than these chicken feed manufacturers not maintaining their standard. I mean after a while the quality of feed fall off while price keeps increasing.
.... Reasons why I feel feed Manufacturers subtle market game is common in Nigeria.
Well I guess it's a good thing to explore and try so many feeds and compare which one is the best but when you are exploring Sue to the fact that a particular standard of feed that you are using is falling, then I guess it needs a call for concern. I started my Poultry farm business it's too feed that I was using, after some times we heard news flittering around that it's no longer as efficient as when the feed was first produced. Then later we on, we moved to Chikun feed the same thing happened again, we left Chikun feed to Ultima feed from Ultima feed to Newhope feed. Now Newhope feed standard is falling off again and we are already moving on to Happy chicken feed.
The most unfortunate amazing thing is that when the quality of these feeds are falling off it will surely reflect on the growth of the Birds. I don't know why these feeds manufacturers can't maintain their standard. The annoying part is that the quality and standard will keep falling and the price will keep inflating. The problem of these manufacturers is that once they see that their feed has penetrated the market, that it has made the name, will start reducing their quality and keep extorting their customers with hike in price of this feed.
In addition, this is common to Nigerian manufacturers. Once they see that their products have gained ground in the local market you will observe the start calling off. But to the customers advantage, it helps customers to explore other products even if the standard will fall off soon but it would serve its for a while and soon as the quality starts falling off, immediately you will see new feed in town better than the penultimate one.
So apparently the new feed that people are falling into to feed their will soon become things of the past just like its predecessor. When you see farmers using varieties of feed just know that they are looking for the best one to use.
