Say hello to my little friends.
Aren't these the cutest cakes you've ever seen?! Doux Amour Patisserie opened up over a year ago but they've achieved something of a cult following in Sydney in the last 6 months for their animal-shaped choux pastry cakes. For those that don't know, choux pastry is the kind that is used in eclaires and profiteroles. For these particular cakes, the choux pastry encases a light custard that is offered in many different flavours with a cookie crumb on the outside.
When I first came across these cakes I thought they were super unique so I thought I'd share it with the Steemit community and see if you guys had seen anything like this before! My passion is experimenting with foods, both cooking and eating, so I really like what these guys have tried to do and so far it seems to be pretty successful so let's meet some of the cakes.
The different animals represent different flavours, for example, I'd like to introduce
Rosie the rose and lychee pig
O-be the taro octopus
and...hiding in the back is Macho, the matcha green tea frog
Sorry I didn't take more photos guys, my friend and I were chomping at the bit to eat these so I had to hurry haha. Doux Amour has recently expanded their collection and this is their full family of animals:

I always love checking out new restaurants, cake stores or anything novelty or food-related around Sydney (and even better internationally). I've recently spotted a cafe that does BLING BLING silver and gold soft-serve ice cream so hopefully I can get there and show you guys soon!!
Let me know if you guys have tried choux pastry or if there's a patisserie you've seen that does something similar. Even better share a post or photo, I'd love to check it out!
I'll be doing a blog of my recent trip to New Zealand so stay tuned for that. Until then...
