Here’s my positive take on my workplace and work life. This was going to be much more aggressive rant that I was actually going to post at work here since morale is at an all-time low and everyone just wants to whine, complain and bring everyone else down. It’s getting frustrating but instead after my wife’s encouragement and better judgement I’ve just been gently reminding everyone of this one on one.
The way I see work, and pretty much every other situation in life is that, it is what you make it. We all control our own environments and happiness. It is a choice we get to make. When I was a kid and my dad would drag me places I didn’t want to go, he always reiterated this message, if you choose to be miserable when we get there, then you will be, but if you decide you are going to have fun and make the best of the situation then it will be. It took a while but I eventually learned this from a young age and it’s really helped shape my life and my positive attitude.
At some point someone encouraged me to read “The Secret” and the whole secret was pretty much this same damn thing. Send positivity out to the world and that’s what you’ll get back. She went and bit deeper and made it sound like magic energy and stuff but to me it’s not magic or voodoo we get to decide how we perceive, interpret and react to events all around us.
There are people in terrible worse situations then us, than still thrive and enjoy life and are happy despite it all.
This is the same for work and if it’s really that bad and you can’t find a way to make the most of it, then you need to make a change. I’m a nurse and every week there are at least 5 posting for other jobs in the hospital and who knows how many in the community. So if you can’t find a way to stay positive and make the most of your job then change it. I feel you have these two options and you need to decide one and commit to the path to make the most of your life.

A meme someone posted at work after a recent management crackdown!
I can’t understand why people choose to come to work daily and be miserable and negative. I can appreciate some days we work too damn hard, and often we don’t always have the resources, supplies and support we need. Somedays management enforces petty rules and isn’t always nice or fair, but that’s life. In the current economic climate with health care budgets stretched thin we are constantly trying to do more with less. I’m sure in the private sector it’s the same thing with people trying to make larger profits. That’s just the way it is, and by all means get political and try to change this, but it’s not good for anyone to be negative.
Here’s hoping I can keep spreading the word around work and I do know there are a lot of people feeling that same way I do about staying positive, so maybe we just all need to get together and have one big care bear stare!
