I last showcased my wife’s new passion for weaving a couple month back and now she’s laying spinning on top of that! Next is probably going to be the aplacas from the fair but one step at a time.. lol.
I didn’t even realize that spinning was still a thing, but low and behold I now have a spinning wheel in my house.
It also turns out this is intensely complex and takes a real knack to do it. She made a quick attempt and just made a knotted mess.
From what she tells me it’s a very fine balance of spinning the wheel at the right speed, feeding and stretching the exact right amount of fibers and having the proper tension. This all seams like too much to pay attention to at the same time for me, but she seams quite confident she’s going through get the hang of it.
